Call for Public Artists

The image shows a street-level perspective drawing of what the trail connection might look like, with separated bike and pedestrian paths, trees and lighting.

The Green Crescent is a future trail connection between the Midtown Greenway and the Orange Line’s I-35W & Lake St Station in south Minneapolis. It will be located just west of I-35W, along Stevens Avenue, and provide direct access to the transit station for pedestrians and bicyclists.

The City is seeking an experienced artist or artist team to collaborate with the steering committee, community and artists in creating public art for this projectrail connection. Possible art opportunities include gateways or wayfinding artworks integrated into the space, pavement treatments on the pedestrian trail, artistic treatment of seat walls, and a light installation.

An local informational meeting for artists will be held Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. at the Northeast Library, 2200 Central Ave N.E. in Minneapolis. The application deadline is Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017 at 4 p.m.

For more information, please visit the Green Crescent Call for Artists website, or contact Ann Godfrey.
