The NDR and Show & Tell Meeting

Did you know GP practices can store and access digital Lloyd George records in the National Document Repository (NDR)?

NHS England launched a new service earlier this year for practices to store and access digital Lloyd George records. The service is free at the point of use. The NDR ‘Access and store digital patient documents’ service is holding over 500,000 digital Lloyd George records for over 4,000 practices.

This service is helping practices to:

  • remove the need for physical record storage or the expense of third-party storage
  • reduce the administrative burden when patients register or move
  • respond quickly to requests, for example from patients or insurers
  • ensure digital Lloyd George records are stored securely and safely

Check digital Lloyd George records for your practice

Your practice may already have digital Lloyd George records stored in the NDR due to patient movement. To check if you have digital Lloyd George records for patients registered at your practice in the NDR, follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to the NDR with your NHS smartcard https://national-document-repository.nhs.uk/

  2. Download a report to see the list of Lloyd George records stored for your practice.

  3. The report shows the number of patients registered at your practice with a digital         Lloyd George record in the NDR, and a list of those patients' NHS numbers.

  4. You can view these records by searching for the patient’s NHS Number using the          ‘Search for a patient’ page.

  5. If the NDR is storing records for patients at your practice, you may want to add a          note or a code to the patient’s EHR.

  6. Newly registering patients at your practice may have a digital Lloyd George record        in the NDR. You might find it useful to run the report at regular intervals as the              number of records held in the NDR on behalf of your practice may change due to          patient movement.

The next Show and Tell meeting is open to all practices to attend where the team will be letting you know what's happening with their pilot practices and the upload a document feature and talking about reviewing and actioning of new records in the NDR.

To join the meeting on Wednesday 3rd December at 1pm until 2pm, please click here.

Find out more about the service here or email the Patient Record Management team england.prmteam@nhs.net.

Promoting ARU Student Placements

Anglian Ruskin University (ARU) are looking to onboard further surgeries across the new Essex ICB footprint in order to provide medical student placements in practices in Essex.

There is extensive GP placement time at ARU and the structure is as follows:

Year 1: Six placement days across the year, one virtual placement day.
Year 2: Two week block placement.
Year 3: At present, three days in General Practice, but as of 26-27 moving to a longitudinal model which will involve placement time split between community placement providers (EPUT/ NELFT/ IC24 etc) and GP. ARU would be looking for a commitment of a minimum of 15 days of General Practice.
Year 4: Four week block placements.
Year 5: Four week block placements.

If the above interests you, then please email: deepak.kumar@aru.ac.uk where you can discuss over a teams meeting.

Do you need help with PCSE cases?

Have you waited for more than 40 days for a response from PCSE for a case raised with them? Are you experiencing financial hardship as a result? Or, is there a risk to patient safety? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, then the LMC can help you.
