Highlight: Research Matters! Celebrating New Ideas and Discoveries

Lauren Quattrochi, PhD at "Research Matters" in 2014

Know a graduate student or post-doc with a strong research story to tell? Nominate them for the Graduate School’s second TED-like symposium, Research Matters! This event features brief talks for a general audience on “why my research matters.”

This year, we’re looking for 5-minute talks on research projects by Brown University master’s and doctoral students and postdocs. Nominate yourself or someone else by Monday, September 12. Nominees will be invited to apply as soon as nominated; interested nominees should submit applications by September 19, 2016.

We aim to showcase excellent scholarship across the disciplines, raising the visibility of graduate students and post-docs and their contributions to Brown University. Students, faculty, and all community members are invited to attend the live event, held in the Granoff Center, Martinos Auditorium on November 5.

Semifinalists and finalists will flex their storytelling muscles, receive peer feedback and coaching. Videos of the live talks will be featured on the Graduate School website.

For more information, visit the Graduate School Research Matters! webpage.
