With 2011 almost over and another successful year under our belt it’s time to say a big thank you to all our cracking supporters this year.

Wow!

Wow ... what a year 2011 has turned out to be! We kicked off in true Wallace & Gromit innovation style with the launch of our Cracking Ideas Facebook and Twitter pages. Loads of you have taken the opportunity to join in the conversation with like-minded creators, entrepreneurs, innovators and makers and it’s been great fun hearing all about your fabulous cracking ideas. Thank you for all your brilliant creativity, here’s to an awesome 2012 chock full of brand new innovative and inspirational brain-waves!

Good Times

The Spring saw a phenomenal number of entries into our cracking ‘Design a Theme Park’ competition. We are still reeling at the quality of the 6,000 plus entries we received. Thank you for all your imaginative solutions to Wallace & Gromit’s carousel conundrums and rollercoaster riddles; the Cracking Ideas team and the creative boffins at Aardman had a tough task choosing between all the innovative gadgets and gizmos.

It’s going to be a testing challenge to top 2011’s brilliant competition success but at Cracking Ideas HQ we know you can do it! We’ve already received some fantastic Wallace & Gromit style designs for the current sporty themed competition so keep those ingenious ice-skating, remarkable rugby, tremendous trampolining and fabulous football cracking ideas coming!

Exhibition News

2011 has seen the Intellectual Property Office sponsored ‘Wallace & Gromit’s World of Cracking Ideas’ fabulously successful residency at Newcastle’s Life Science Centre and we’ve recently been able to announce the great news that the exhibition has hit the half million visitors mark which is brilliant news.

It means that over 500,000 people from the UK and plenty of international visitors have had access to the creative world of Wallace & Gromit and have seen the important role innovation plays in our everyday lives. They’ve got involved in the fun interactives, been impressed by the inventive duo’s cracking contraptions and pitted their wits in challenges and games all about the important role of intellectual property in the world around us.

If you want to add to the growing list of impressed and satisfied visitors, there is still time … just! Wallace & Gromit Present a World of Cracking Ideas is currently at Newcastle’s Life Science Centre until 22 January.

New Challenges

So with 2012 just around the corner we are all looking forward to a new year full of fresh exciting challenges to build on the successes of 2011 .

Watch this space for information about an exciting new venture in the Spring, (Shhhh, it’s secret at the moment so keep it under your hat or should I say thinking cap!) a suitably innovative and creative Cracking Ideas award ceremony in the Summer and a whole year chock-full of ingenious Wallace & Gromit style inspiration, and creativity!
