Hail Hot Bottlers!

The bank holiday weekend is upon us, I hope you have sheer splendidness in store!

Among all the challenges and uncertainty of this current time, I’m delighted to support Bid For Beirut and would love you to join me to raise funds for those in need in Lebanon.

I'm teaming up with Susy Atkins for a fabulous online tasting which you have the chance to bid for today. The tasting is for 6 households, so you can either bid for this and share with 5 of your friends and family, or bid as a group. Each household will receive four stunning bottles ahead of the event and Susy and I will host your evening via the magic of the internet and share our enthusiasm for wine with you personally. Lot 66 is now open! So please get bidding here.

Wines for our tasting are kindly provided by Boutinot and remember to check out the other auction lots too.

HOT BOTTLE CASE OF WINE

I'm also thrilled to share that Haynes Hanson Clark have put together the wines I recently recommended from them into their very own Hot Bottle case! So you can have all these beauties delivered to your door with one simple click plus 5% off.  The wines are ruddy epic and this is totally off the back of HHC, I am in no way involved and will not benefit in any way other than to feel proud that you’ve got a top selection of decent bottles to dive into. Order yours here.

And here are a couple of extra Hot Bottles for you to get stuck into over the bank holiday:

Paul Mas Clairette 2019 (12.5%) £8.25 Morrisons I love this wine, for being downright unusual. It has a savoury lingering flavour alongside loads of rich refreshment, try it instead of a glass of fizz with some nibbles before a meal.

Domaine Gayda ‘En Passant Rouge’ 2019 £9.99 (mix six) Majestic Bold, black fruit and beautiful, fine yet firm tannin really ticked all my boxes for an outstanding red for stews, steaks or just to revel in.  A hearty bet while the weather thinks about changing its mind.

Ignacio Recabarren Casablanca Pinot Noir 2019 (13%) £15 The Wine Society.  Scented summery aromas... and then sipping it is so silky, lush and satisfying - the fruit feels precise yet deft with a subtle oaky echo and long lingering finish that really makes your mind up to drink another glass. And buy another bottle. Outstanding.

Enjoy the long weekend and keep in touch,

Olly x
