Owners Band Together To Actively Support Wild Root Market

On the evening of Monday, November 7, over 50 Wild Root Market Owners enjoyed an amazing potluck spread at Images by Camela in downtown Racine. After (and, in some cases, while) eating and socializing, Owners were asked to introduce themselves by talking about why Wild Root Market is important to them.  Click here to view what they said:

Why is the creation of a co-op in Racine important to you?

There was an excellent exchange of ideas, questions and comments and a number of significant connections were made throughtout the evening among the group.  Best of all, we asked Owners to become actively engaged in a variety of areas and they overwhelmingly responded with a willingness to help where needed.

If you missed the potluck because of a busy schedule or our lack of inviting you (due to an administrative glitch, about a dozen new Owners were left off the list--so sorry!), don't worry. We're certain to have regular Owner gatherings (likely involving food!). If you're not yet an Owner, consider becoming one today by printing out the downloadable form on our website and mailing it with your first installment.  It's as simple as that!

An Amazing Community

Our owners rock! Not only did they share great, healthy food (ok, maybe not all heathy!), they stepped up to the plate and responded to our call for help! Requests for support (in the form of joining a committee or as an individual contributor toward discrete functions) included interest and/or expertise in the areas of: Community & Business Outreach; Ownership & Education; Finance; Marketing, Design & Promotions; Architecture & Design; Technology; and Human Resources. Some areas will be in need of help in the immediate future, others will be looking for support somewhere down the road. Each of our Owners will be receving a copy of the interest form we shared at the potluck so they can assess where their skills might lend themselves in opening the doors at our co-op. Needless to say, we're grateful for their talents, interest and enthusiasm!

Feasibility Study Update

On Thursday, November 3, the Board of Directors met with the CEO of G2G Research Group, the consulting firm Wild Root Market (and many other start-up co-ops) engaged to conduct the first part of our feasibility study. Once those results are in, we'll be able to begin part two of the study which will provide additional necessary financial data related to site selection. Since there are so many moving parts to this decision, we can't foretell when an announcement about the site will be made, but we continue to implement our plan in a mindful, strategic and systematic manner. We take our fiducidary responsibility toward our Owners very seriously and don't underestimate the importance of sharing information with them as soon as it's feasible, advisable and practical.

Regardless of location, it's clear that Wild Root Market will provide a great boost to the quality of life and the economic vitality of our local and greater communities. We can't wait!
