40th Anniversary CISANI Conference Agenda & ProgramWe are excited to share the 40th Anniversary CISANI Conference Journal. It has details on the conference agenda, speakers, and activities. You may preview the digital journal below. A hard copy will be given at registration. Conference Day 1 Overview Membership Meeting - The first day of the CISANI Conference will be the Membership Meeting from 2:00 - 6:00 PM at Chung Pak Local Development Corp. (96 Baxter Street, 13th Floor New York, NY 10013). Chung Pak LDC is a 20-minute walk from the Orchard Street Hotel or two stops away by subway (J/Z at Delancey/Essex Street to Canal Street). Steering Committee Members are expected to attend, and we invite all conference participants who would like to learn more about CISANI and discuss our plans for the next year to attend. Freedom Tower Tour and Dinner (RSVP CLOSED) - We will end the first day of the CISANI Conference with a self-guided tour and dinner with cash bar at the Freedom Tower starting at 6:30 PM. The Freedom Tower is located at One World Trade Center (285 Fulton Street New York, NY 10007). It is two stops away from Chung Pak LDC by subway (R Canal Street to Cortlandt Street or J/Z Canal Street to Fulton Street). Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) staff will help CISANI conference participants in traveling from Chung Pak LDC to the Freedom Tower. Conference Day 2 Overview Conference Sessions - The second day of the CISANI Conference will be the panels from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM at Grand Street Settlement's Essex Crossing Community Center (175 Delancey Street, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10002). The community center is an 8-minute walk from the Orchard Street Hotel. We have inspiring, thought-provoking panelists from around the U.S. and other countries to discuss civic engagement. The conference theme is "From Wall Street to Main Street: Civic Engagement in Changing Times," and together we will explore how civic engagement is impacting Chinese social service organizations and the community members we serve. Dinner Reception (RSVP CLOSED) - After a tour of Grand Street Settlement's Essex Crossing Community Center and a break to freshen up, we will end the second day of the CISANI Conference with a dinner reception at the new Essex Market (88 Essex Street, New York, NY 10002) at 6:00 PM. Essex Market is a 3-minute walk from the community center or a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Conference Day 3 Overview Conference Sessions - The last day of the CISANI Conference will be from 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM at CPC's Queens Community Center (133-14 41st Avenue, Flushing, NY 11355). A bus will leave the Orchard Street Hotel at 8:00 AM to take us to the CPC Queens Community Center. This is an estimated one-hour bus ride. We have a roundtable with Asian American elected officials and a tour of the Queens Community Center. We will have lunch to close the 40th Anniversary CISANI Conference, and the bus will take us back to the Orchard Street Hotel at 2:00 PM.
Conference HotelThe official 40th Anniversary CISANI Conference Hotel is the Orchard Street Hotel. Taxes are exempt if you reserve through the CPC hotel room block. A tax-exempt form (ST-119) from your organization is needed when you check in. Please bring one for each person paying. Contact Wayne Ho, who@cpc-nyc.org, if you require one. Orchard Street Hotel Conference TravelIf you are flying in from out of town, New York City has three local airports: John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), LaGuardia International Airport (LGA), and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). All three airports are accessible by public transportation. You can also travel by taxi, Uber, or Lyft from the airports to the hotel. If you are taking the railroad train to New York City, Amtrak goes to Penn Station. The Orchard Street Hotel is located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan and is a few blocks from the following MTA subway train stations: F / M / J / Z Delancey Street - Essex Street Fares for the MTA buses and subway trains is $2.75 per ride with an additional one-time, $1 MetroCard activation fee. NYC WeatherThe weather in NYC during the conference will range from 55°F (12°C) to 27°F (-2°C). There is showers and a chance of snow forecast for Tuesday night. Please prepare appropriately.
