Jerry Lewis: Painted Pictures

Painted Pictures is an exhibition of original photographs by famed actor/director/comedian/singer/ philanthropist, Jerry Lewis. As a complement to this extraordinary event, the Barrick Museum is also hosting the Jerry Lewis Film Festival with daily screenings through September 17.

Braunstein Gallery 

Private/Public

Private/Public features ex-votos and retablos, wooden sculptures and milagros from both a private Las Vegas collection and the Museum's Braunstein Collection.  The exhibited objects are the visual result of 400 years of private/public devotional practices.

Tours with the curator of Public/Private are available Thursdays between 1-4PM, tours are available in Spanish and English.

Panorama: Selections from the Nevada Arts Council’s Artist Fellowship Program is organized by the Nevada Arts Council and is the third in a series of traveling exhibits showcasing the recipients of the Nevada Arts Council’s Artist Fellowship Award in the visual arts.

The Museum will also host Panorama +: Sesquicentennial Celebration of Nevada, further selections from the NAC Artist Fellowship Program.

Skull Show Biennial

The Skull Show Biennial presents the work of over forty artists in the third edition of this exhibition.  Their work probes perceptions of the skull be it a reference to folklore, religion, science, science fiction, medicine, pop culture, erotica or taboo themes.

Make your own "Found Object Collage". Bring found objects to donate to the ArtBar or use some of ours. Glue and paper provided. Take your collages home or exhibit them in the lobby. 

 

Storytime

Children and their adult companions are invited to use their imaginations as they explore our exhibitions and attend Storytime at the Barrick.

Storytime Hours:

Mon.- Fri.: 4 - 4:30 pm Saturday: 1 - 1:30 pm

 
 

WEEKLY

Sketch Saturday

Artists have always studied works of art for inspiration. Get inspired by the Barrick’s exhibitions and discover the artist within.  

Join the Barrick Museum every Saturday for free sketching. Pick up free paper and pencils at our reception desk.

 

MONTHLY

Stroller Tours

The first Friday of each month, 1:30 - 2:15 pm

Tours meet at the lobby reception desk.

Experience art with your little one(s) in tow. These guided tours are for moms, dads, and caregivers and are designed to allow you to be mindful of your young ones as you look and talk about art with other adults.

 

Kids Tours (ages 4–6)

The second Saturday of each month, 1 - 2 pm

You are never too young to learn about art. Bring your tot to the Barrick for a story, a mini-tour and hands-on activity. 

 

Get Creative

The third Saturday of every month, from 3 - 5 pm

Look around the galleries. Think about materials, line, color, and shape - then create your own art (projects vary monthly).

 

Critique and Conversation

The last Friday of every month 4 - 5 pm

Join the Barrick for informal and in depth discussions about art and ideas. Topics and special guests vary each month. Co-hosted by Barrick Museum Collection Manager/ artist, Alisha Kerlin and Barrick Staff/ writer, DK Sole.

COMING UP

CRITIQUE AND CONVERSATION

Documentation of everyday life through painted image and text is a continuous theme in the works included in “Public/Private: Images of Devotion from 19th Century and Early 20th Century Mexico” Curator Emmanuel Ortega and artist Matthew Couper will co-host a discussion about the function of text in art and how we can view these works as documents or consider them for their aesthetic value.

VISITING ARTIST LECTURE SERIES 

The UNLV Visiting Artists Lecture Series features a diverse array of some of the most compelling artists and thinkers working in the art world today. This important program brings both established and emerging artists to campus to discuss their work in public lectures and to offer individual critiques to our BFA and MFA students. 

Lectures take place every Thursday evening starting at 7 pm and are open to the public. They are held in the Barrick Museum Auditorium.
