To all of our donors, volunteers and partners:

Three months ago, CPC launched the Essential Workers Campaign and the CPC COVID-19 Relief Fund. As both campaigns come to an end we want to thank everyone for the support and love we have received so far.

We wouldn't be able to support our community members without your tireless dedication, support, and care since the pandemic hit New York City seven months ago.

Your Support, Our Response

As of August 30th, CPC's response to the COVID-19 pandemic includes but not limited to:

  • $1,250,900 in cash assistance was distributed to 1,543 families, including undocumented and mixed-status households

(Nearly 3,000 small businesses in NYC have closed for good contributing in continuous loss of jobs and incomes for many struggling families who still continue to struggle)

  • CPC provided 144,157 lbs of food to families and seniors either through grab-and-go meal pick-ups or doorstep drop-offs
(A report from City Harvest states another 800,000 New Yorkers have been added to the existing 2.5 million who were already struggling with food insecurity, pre-covid)

  • $376,000 in supply grants was disbursed to 628 childcare programs and $275,000 in scholarships was given to essential workers to cover their childcare expenses through New York State’s allocation of the Federal CARES Act
(Based on a survey from the National Association for the Education of Young Children [NAEYC], from July, 86% of childcare providers are serving fewer children now than before the pandemic, while 70% are incurring “substantial” new operating costs)

  • 2,494 young people worked summer and school year jobs through the Summer Youth Employment Program and Work, Learn, and Grow
(There is still 18.6% of people between the ages of 16 and 24, many being recent college graduates still unemployed, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics)

Still Advancing and Empowering our Communities

The CPC COVID-19 Relief Fund was started to garner support for all our essential programs that offer the relief and assistance our community members across the city urgently need.

“What we’ve seen over the last six months is the human services workforce is declared essential by the city and state, and the need for our services has skyrocketed,” they say. “But at the same time, we’re seeing funding cut at every level. — Carlyn Cowen, Chief Policy and Public Affairs Officer of CPC

Because of our supporters we were able to surpass our goal with a total of $29,581 raised for the CPC COVID-19 Relief Fund!

Our Everyday Heroes

CPC wanted to use the Essential Workers campaign to honor New Yorkers who keep our city running and fight the spread of COVID-19.

Our campaign featured authentic photos of New Yorkers who provide healthcare, teach our youth, deliver meals to our seniors, drive subway trains, keep our justice systems running and so much more, including CPC staff.

We hope all the different Essential Workers stories the past 3 months have been enjoyable and inspiring to all who have read them.

During these unprecedented times, the power of community has become so much more evident.

No act of support is too little or too late.

Because of everyone's collective support CPC has been able to help and positively influence the lives of thousands of families who need it.

Support Local Businesses

We would like to thank junzi Kitchen and Málà Project for their collaboration with us for the
CPC COVID-19 Relief Fund and their continued support of our services.

Now a part of our CPC family and community (and us at CPC being big foodies ourselves), we are always excited to see their latest concoctions and additions to their menus!

Whether it's ordering in for dinner from Málà Project or trying junzi Kitchen's special chili oil we hope for and encourage the support of all local businesses as we tackle the aftermath of the ongoing pandemic together.
