CPC Hosts the Golden Day Community Carnival to Encourage Voting Participation On October 26th, CPC hosted the Golden Day Community Carnival at CPC One to empower and engage community members in the elections. Over 100 youth volunteers and staff provided vital resources to ensure voters are informed, prepared, and confident as they head to the polls. The festival also featured fun, family-friendly activities, including face painting, paper cutting, calligraphy, and delicious treats. CPC In The News
The Christian Science Monitor Spotlights Open Door Senior Center’s Offerings On October 8th, The Christian Science Monitor featured CPC Open Door Senior Center and highlighted its adaptive programming that meets the diverse interests of our members aged 60 to 100. The reporter interviewed several community members and Po-Ling Ng, CPC Associate Executive Director and Open Door Senior Center Director, who emphasized the center’s commitment to creating an inclusive environment that encourages social interaction.
Epicenter Highlights CPC's Support for Undocumented Families Through Promise NYC On October 7th, Epicenter spotlighted the increasing demand for child care among recently arrived migrants and discussed CPC’s role in supporting undocumented families through the Promise NYC program. This initiative provides city-subsidized child care vouchers to low-income undocumented families, enabling them to find jobs and stabilize their lives in New York City. Three staff members from our Promise NYC team—Edwin Rodriguez, Katie Iles, and Andres Moreno—were interviewed for the piece. EDUCATIONWe provide high-quality learning opportunities for all ages—from Pre-K and after-school enrichment to adult English language classes—because education is lifelong.
Early Childhood Centers Celebrate Halloween with Festive Crafts, Costumes, and Treats CPC’s early childhood centers embraced the Halloween spirit with exciting activities. Children at the Jacob Riis Early Childhood Center enjoyed crafting colorful masks and dressing up in their favorite costumes. Young artists at the Little Star Early Childhood Center created spooky decorations in their classrooms. Meanwhile, staff at the Lois C. Lee Early Childhood Center handed out treats to the children.
Education and Career Services Team Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with High School Students On October 16th, the CPC Education and Career Services team celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month and Global Diversity Awareness Month with high school students from Fort Hamilton, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, New Utrecht, John J. Pershing, and Lafayette Educational Campus. The students enjoyed a day of art, music, fun activities, and delicious treats from various Latin American countries. FAMILY SUPPORTWe make it easier for individuals and families to access personalized social resources because support is fundamental at every age.
CPC Raises Over $90,000 at the Brooklyn Harvest Moon Benefit On October 23rd, CPC held our Brooklyn Harvest Moon Benefit at the New Phoenix Seafood Restaurant. The event celebrated 45 years of transformative programs through CPC Brooklyn Community Center and honored five outstanding individuals who have provided outstanding service and leadership in the Brooklyn community.
Manhattan Community Services Organizes Family Day Fair On October 12th, CPC Manhattan Community Services hosted its annual Family Day Fair at CPC One. Over 400 community members attended this family-friendly event, which featured interactive games, resources from more than 30 participating organizations, and opportunities to build connections within the community. CPC Participates in United Neighborhood House’s Settlement House Day On October 24th, CPC joined members of United Neighborhood Houses (UNH) for Settlement House Day. The event brought together human services workers from over 40 member agencies in the UNH network to enhance skills, build connections, and explore new opportunities for collaboration. Several CPC staff also co-facilitated workshops on topics ranging from inspiring civic action to finding joy in the work.
CPC Joins 27th Annual Silent March Against Domestic Violence in Queens On October 11th, CPC participated in the Korean American Family Service Center’s 27th Annual Silent March Against Domestic Violence in Flushing, Queens, to raise awareness and prevent domestic violence, sexual assault, and relationship abuse. The march serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience and strength of those affected by violence in our communities and helps build a supportive environment.
