The dreaded Monday morning wake up, ugh! Some people would say it’s their least favorite day of the week. So much to do and with five whole days of school ahead, it seems endless. What if you started to look forward to Monday mornings? That is what students at Rockford High School do each and every week. Monday Meet and Greets were the brainchild of two teachers who, after listening to students and staff alike, were trying to find a way to reinvent the least favorite day of the week. The SET SEG Foundation, partnering with the Michigan Association of School Boards, is celebrating its 25th year of the Education Excellence Awards. This year, prizes worth $2,500 each will be awarded to 10 educational programs within Michigan public schools and/or ISDs to continue their positive influence on their students and community.   Penny Wars

With Homecoming gone and the holiday break not quite within grasp, many are left with empty stretches within their student activities calendar. My name is Brooke Ray and I am a senior at Chippewa Hills High School in Remus. This is the story of how my school raised morale and funds at the same time. Last year a need was brought to our attention by our principal for an emergency fund to be started. She wanted to create a financial safety net to be utilized in times of crisis and tragedy in our school community. National Honor Society answered this call for an emergency fund and we launched a penny war. Read more here.
