A Fond Farewell to Topher Buck

After nearly six years at GreenBlue leading the development of CleanGredients, Senior Project Manager Topher Buck ended his full-time employment with GreenBlue at the end of November after he moved to Concord, MA with his family this fall. We're delighted to announce that Topher will continue to be a GreenBlue Senior Fellow and will work with James Ewell on our chemicals-related projects on a part-time basis in the coming months, but the entire organization is very sad to see him leave his former role. Under Topher's leadership, CleanGredients has grown annually and is used by hundreds of chemical formulators and suppliers. He also has been an integral part of the organization and we are grateful for all that he has done for GreenBlue. Please join us in wishing Topher the best of luck!

ESP Mexico City Recap and Upcoming ESP Dates

Project Manager Minal Mistry taught the inaugural session of the Essentials of Sustainable Packaging (ESP) course in Mexico City on November 15th. This public session was presented with the support of Asociación Mexicana de Envase y Embalaje. Attendees of the course expressed significant interest in end-of-life and recovery of packaging materials as Mexico is embarking on efforts to implement material separation and processing for secondary markets. You can find a more detailed recap of the Mexico City course in Minal's latest blog post.

The first session in Hong Kong originally scheduled for November has been rescheduled for February 22-23, 2012. This session will be presented with the support of Hong Kong Productivity Council. The course brochure and registration information is available here. In addition, tailored sessions of the course will be available in both English/Spanish and English/Mandarin starting January 2012. Any organizations interested in a customized session or those interested in being a host to a public session in any Spanish and/or Mandarin speaking regions can contact Minal Mistry directly to discuss details.

Although many of us are spending more hours at work than ever before, certain hallmarks of the office remain unchanged: fluorescent lights, dreaded cubicles, limited water cooler interactions, and the punch-in mentality of the expanding 9 to 5 schedule. How is it that as a culture we have spent so little time thinking about our physical workspace and work community given its immense impact in our lives? Read More
