News, views and analysis from the A/NZ tech sector No images? Click here Hi there, As #TechWeek21 concludes with tonight's glitzy Hi-Tech Awards celebration, the industry is contemplating what it is that best encapsulates the story around New Zealand's tech and innovation success? The Tech Story is a central pillar of the digital industry transformation plan and will drive a campaign taking that story to the world. It comes as New Zealand enjoys record levels of early stage, VC and private equity investment in tech companies. It is undoubtedly good news for the founders and shareholders involved, but is it also good news for the wider economy? Greg Shanahan, director of the Technology Investment Network, which released its fifth annual Investor’s Guide to the NZ Technology Sector, certainly hopes so. He told us why, and what structural changes are needed to sustain current growth and make a meaningful contribution to the nation's productivity. One of the things he believes is critical is raising the profile of successful companies – and that plays nicely into iStart's wheelhouse as we expand our news reach with the re-launch of AppWrap. It’s a section – which the observant will recall from our magazine days – that curates tech news from around the web to keep you abreast of local and global events. And just a reminder that the CIO Award entries close on 31 May – so if you haven't already entered, now's the time to get your skates on.
