Welcome to the biggest online golf club in the UK... No images? Click here OCTOBER NEWS Dear TSGers, Well, I guess the Americans can be pretty pleased with themselves after giving the Europeans a proper spanking in this year's Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits GC in Wisconsin. The 19-9 win is the biggest victory margin in the history of the event. Meanwhile, the R&A and USGA announce a new local rule to give the option of limiting driver length to 46 inches, although I am not sure we nomads need to worry about this just yet. In other news, we have started work on next year's TSG event calendar, with the potential for a new TSG Team event being added to the schedule in May or August next year. We'll keep you updated as and when we have more news on dates and format. In the meantime, enjoy the last few weeks of mild weather! Ian & The TSG Team #TSGISAHAPPYPLACE #BEHAPPY TSG MatchPlay Championship - Finals Day: The Race to Farleigh GC As our TSG finalists prepared for their day in the sun (literally), it was a fun day had by all at Farleigh GC on Sunday 4th October. The conclusion to this year's TSG Matchplay Championship was played out with a superbly fought match that went all the way to the 17th green. And once again we can confirm that Mr Andy King is our new TSG Matchplay Champion and the first and ONLY TSGer to win it twice! Winners on the day included: The TSG Matchplay Championship Trophies on display Fellow TSGers lending support to the finalist on the day 3rd Place match - Matt Coffey-Taylor and Tuan Nguyen pose in the TSG Sombereo Grand Final - Andy King and Dave Johnson getting ready to do battle Please congratulate our NEW, first time TWICE, TSG MatchPlay Champion! TSG Stats: Where do TSGers play (London & M25)? Whilst enjoying a society day with TSGers recently, an interesting subject came up - Where are most TSG games played? The popular myth is that, as the site was first started in Kent and Essex, that most games played or posted were played in those counties. And whilst this was somewhat true in the early days, we asked TSG Developer Adam to run some data queries to see what were the most popular areas for games, from the first-ever game posting on the beta site in 2008/9. His initial brief was to work on London, but we will be looking at other areas in the coming months. And as you can see, from the London and South East Map shown above, the games are very much spread out and fairly evenly across the region. #SoNowYouKnow! TSG Member Images: Hole-in-One Alert! It's always a pleasure to hear of a TSGer getting their first-ever Hole-in-One (especially as I am still waiting for mine - Editor). So, it is with great pleasure that we can congratulate Martin Kelly, well done! This comes quickly on the back of fellow Essex TSGer, Tony Factor, who also recently got his first H.I.O! Martin Kelly and his band of merry TSGers helping him celebrate his first Hole in one! Martin's Hole-in-One came on the 24th of September on the final hole at Top Meadow GC, Ockendon, Essex and his 5 Pts stableford scored ensured he also had his handicap cut by 2.2 shots on the day, but I am sure he doesn't mind in the least! Well done to Gareth on his first leaderboard win since joining the site in July 2012. However, we'll leave Gareth to comment on his achievements in his own words... "What a round! Only one bad shot all day - it’s what dreams are made of. Sadly I feel I might need to retire as I’m never going to get close to that again!" Welcome to the 2022 TSG Masters Mr Heath! "A little gem in the big smoke... ' Having lived around the area for 5-6 years, Mitcham was a course I visited many times. I still try and get down there three or four times a year. The course, and especially the greens, are always in excellent condition and the course in general really is a little gem.
However, you perhaps need to play it a few times to fully appreciate it because from first impressions, it may appear a little underwhelming, even a little rough and ready.
