IDG’s 2021 State of the CIO report confirms that CIOs have seen an expansion of their role beyond traditional IT responsibilities, with a full 96 percent of those surveyed saying so. But that status also comes with new responsibilities, and the most challenging of those is creating new digital revenue streams from IT investments. Productisation of IT offerings, new platforms and reducing friction in interactions with customers are all increasingly part of the mix for the modern CIO.
