The main social media channels play a key role in any brand awareness and content marketing strategies and most hotels are using them regularly to share content to both existing and potential customers. However, it is also important to  implement strategies that will utilise these platforms to encourage engagement with both the brand in general and the products on offer and to support and enhance loyalty. This can be achieved by utilising these channels to communicate stories about the benefits of the product, customer views, more personal and targeted messages, rather than having a focus on the brand message. It can also be supported by social media engagement tools which actively encourage and reward social engagement and sharing.

In an increasingly competitive online marketplace, where customer focused content is being created and promoted by companies at an increasing rate, there is a greater need than ever to ensure any marketing or promotional strategy is both creative and engaging, in order to have a chance at catching the user's eye. As well as ensuring that the campaign have been micro-targeted, is personalised, authentic and transparent from the point of view of what the brand offers and tells a story - they will need to have a strong creative element from both the visual perspective and also the how & the why of the story itself.
