Be involved - Sustainable Land Use guides

Mackillop Farm Management Group are collaborating with Limestone Coast (LC) Landscape Board to produce five Sustainable Land Use guides for Red Meat and Wool Production and Dairy Farming for the LC Adaptive Agriculture Project.

The aim is to understand key factors impacting upon sustainable carrying capacities of land in the Limestone Coast in a drying climate. A greater understanding will support primary producers to optimise productivity and profitability, and ensure maintenance of our natural resources.

To ensure that these guides are accurate, we are looking for your involvement through a brief, anonymous and voluntary survey.

These Sustainable Land Use guides will be a reference point for local producers to benchmark too, for local producers in the growth/development of new farms and for new producers to the area.

Your input would be greatly appreciated please complete the survey here.

This project is supported by the Limestone Coast Landscape Board, through funding from the Australian Government's National Landcare Program

Paddock Tree Planting Days

Join our passionate and knowledgeable volunteers and staff help local landholders plant the next generation of paddock trees. Not only will this help the South-eastern Red-tailed Black Cockatoo but paddock trees can benefit your farm by providing benefits such as shelter for stock, nutrient cycling, and moisture penetration and retention.

Trees For Life’s popular Bush Action Team days are heading to the Limestone Coast (LC) thanks to the LC Landscape Board’s Grassroots Grants program.

The planting days will take place between Tuesday 25 and Thursday 27 May during 9am-3:30pm, in various locations throughout the Limestone Coast. Local volunteers can help out on as many days as they’d like, and can join for a half day or full day.

Registration is essential and transport may be available upon request. A moderate level of fitness is recommended.

For more information and to register please contact Trees For Life on 08 8406 0500 or email kelseyb@treesforlife.org.au.

These events are funded by the Limestone Coast Landscape Board Grassroots Grants program and the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
