Meet the Candidates

We had a great meeting Thursday night!  Four candidates came from both Columbia and Suwannee Counties to speak to us and answer our questions.  We really appreciate them taking their time to come!  A big thank you to all our members who are supporting these meetings.  This is a great way to show that we are an active group, interested in electing the best people for each position.  We will be meeting twice a month up until the election (the second and fourth Thursdays).  Each time will feature candidates for both counties.  We have ordered a new sound system and it should be hooked up and ready to go on July 24th.  We appreciate everyone who helped with our recent fundraiser - this gave us the ability to purchase the new system among other things.

We will be recommending candidates after our August 14th meeting.  WE WANT YOUR INPUT!  There will be contact information for our board members on the back table at our meetings - please call one or more of us and let us know what you think.

Our next meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24th - why not go ahead and mark your calendars?

CVA - Phone Banking

We are working with Concerned Veterans for America to reach out to veterans on the issues that are affecting them (and all of us).  Our next session will be Tuesday, July 15th at the Columbia County Library (downtown) from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.  (Chick F-il-a will be served at 5:30, we will begin calling at 6:00 p.m.)  If you can help with this, please call John at 386-935-1705 by Monday afternoon!

CVA is asking Congress to pass a tough VA reform bill.  Read more about it here:   http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/07/10/veterans-group-demands-congress-pass-tough-language-on-firing-va-officials/

American Patriot News

We are continuing to print and distribute the American Patriot News every two weeks in Lake City, Live Oak, Branford and Ft. White.  We are up to 1,600 copies each time and are hoping to continue to grow.

Do you think the newspaper contains articles that people need to read?

We were recently given permission to put them in the Lake City Publix.  80 copies were put in and taken very quickly.  The next edition was delivered and the following day we were called and asked to pick them up because ONE customer complained about it!  Are you a Publix customer?  Would you like to pick the paper up there?  Please stop by the service desk and ask for the paper.  Todd is the manager and you can ask to speak to him as well.  Is it too much to ask that if someone doesn't like the paper, that they just not read it?
