Highlight: Career Conversation with Aisling Dugan, PhD


The BioMed Office of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies is pleased to be hosting a Career Conversation with Aisling Dugan, PhD on Thursday, August 11 at noon!

Dr. Dugan received her PhD in Pathobiology from Brown in 2007. She completed postdocs at Brown and Tufts University before assuming her current role as an Assistant Professor of Biology at Assumption College.

Fall 2016 Young Scholar's Conference (YSC) at Brown
Applications are being accepted for the next YSC, to be hosted by Brown University, September 16-17, 2016. YSC is an initiative to advance the careers of women graduate students in science and engineering, and this year's event is titled "Mechanisms of Disease Intervention.” From molecular biology to biomedical engineering, the conference will highlight the work of women dedicated to curing disease. The application deadline is August 12.

RIHS Concerts Under The Elms
The Rhode Island Historical Society's beloved Concerts Under the Elms series features bands both familiar and new to the crowds who will gather on the grounds of the John Brown House Museum this summer. Concertgoers may bring their own coolers, chairs and blankets plus food trucks will be on-site during each performance. July 28: Pendragon. August 4: The Reggie Centracchio Quintet. Tickets are $10 (free for RIHS Members & kids under 12). Concerts start at 6:30 PM at the John Brown House Museum, 52 Power Street, Providence.

Waterman Fest Block Party Take 2
This popular indoor/outdoor event is returning to Whole Foods Market on the East Side for a fun-filled and FREE day for the whole family! Come for over 40 demos and samples from such suppliers as Vita Coco, Honest Tea, Cabot cheese, and many more! There will be face painting & other activities for the kids, grilling, live music from 4-7, and more! Saturday, August 6 from 2-7 PM at Whole Foods, 261 Waterman Street, Providence.
