Are you thankful for silence? I've been wondering how I define it, because within silence, there is sound. It's been told there are less than a dozen places left in the US where one can rest for 20 minutes during the day without hearing human activity, such as a plane, lawnmower, highway hum, etc.*

This picture is from a recent trip I took to Lake Superior on the upper peninsula in Michigan. This was one of those silent places. A light breeze helped waves find their way to the underside of sandy cliffs, causing deep drumming sounds that broke away underneath me. The forest trail I walked on was soft with leaves from maples, and scents from needles of spruces. It was comparible to the forests here in VT, and I was pleasantly suprised at the beauty around me.

Late summer into autumn is a time I cherish the sunlight, slow down a bit, and focus on goals that will prepare my health for the arrival of cooler weather. There are many modalities I choose from to help myself along the way. I'm sure you can you guess that Massage Therapy is my favorite!

This Autumn I will be attending three more Clinical Orthopedic Manual Therapy classes with Joe Muscolino, as I reach towards completing certification. This will swell my treasure chest with new assessment and treatment techniques for soft tisssues around the shoulder joint, arm, wrist, and hand; as well as the low back, hip, leg, and foot.  The annual VT American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) meeting is also this season so it will be a rewarding and educational season for my clients, as well as myself.

You should also know that I am listed in Community Links for the Hunger Mt. Coop, where members of the Coop can get a great introductory rate for their first visit!

I will be a part of the National Life Group's Health Fair in October and hope to participate at the Hunger Mt. Coop's 20th annual Food & Wellness expo in November. Please come get aquainted with the benefits of chair massage!  It's free, and I just might have some magnificent deals as well for visitors at the November expo.

Ahh, and one more thing, I have updated my mobile website to keep up with the times as well as doing a few improvements on the main website!

Having said that, my heart is something that continuously gets polished from practicing and receiving massage therapy. I never take its purpose lightly.  In this life, I try and remember that there are answers to staying graceful and living longer.

The feel better TIP of the season:

  1. Sit or stand straight up tall.
  2. Lift your chin, and look straight ahead.
  3. Inhale while you look up to the ceiling.
  4. Exhale, look down and read what to do next!
  5. Inhale and look right, left, or down.
  6. Exhale and return to looking straight ahead.
  7. Give it your best shot, allowing 2-5 minutes to repeat #1-6, alternating directions, and smile :)
