Highway Safety Refresher Course Empowers Mature Drivers with Enhanced Road Safety Skills

On June 28th, the Safety Council of Palm Beach County successfully concluded a highly impactful Highway Safety Refresher Course designed specifically for mature drivers. The class, attended by 36 Juno Beach individuals over the age of 55, was organized in collaboration with the Juno Beach Police Department and hosted in the Council Chambers. This initiative was generously sponsored by the Juno Beach Police Foundation, which also provided lunch for all participants. The course aimed to refresh and enhance the driving skills of seniors, .ensuring they stay safe on the roads and become eligible for state-mandated insurance discounts.

Participants were engaged in a comprehensive curriculum that covered critical aspects of road safety, defensive driving techniques, and updated traffic laws. The interactive sessions, led by an experienced instructor from the Safety Council, offered practical tips and strategies for handling various driving scenarios effectively. Attendees were not only able to sharpen their driving skills but also enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow mature drivers, creating a supportive and collaborative learning environment. At the end of the course, each participant received a certificate of completion, which they can present to their Florida automobile insurance company to receive a state-mandated discount on their insurance premiums.

The Highway Safety Refresher Course is planned as a twice-a-year event, and the next session is planned for the winter of 2025. To ensure they don't miss out on this valuable opportunity, readers are encouraged to subscribe to the Juno Beach Police Foundation newsletter for updates on future course offerings.

This initiative underscores the commitment of the Juno Beach Police Department and the Police Foundation to enhance road safety and support the well-being of the Juno Beach community.
