Hey guys!

A quick update on what's been happening over here:

I'm happy to report that I'm out of The Swamp and the next issue of Offscreen is well in its final editing stage with 80% of the (written) content complete. More updates on the release date soon!

Last week, I've launched a little campaign for existing Offscreen readers: for just $7 you can send an issue to a friend. Only a few more copies left. Use this form to surprise a friend!

The guys from Blinkist asked me a few questions about what I (don't) like to read. Speaking of... worth adding to your reading list: No, it's not your opinion. You're just wrong.

Have a great week!

Kai

This Weekʼs Line-Up

Beautiful wooden coasters
01

Sure, coasters aren't at the top of your list when you think of office accessories, but these little beauties have fascinated me ever since I laid eyes on them. There is no way you can serve a drink without having your guests acknowledge your exceptional taste of... coasters.

A copy-paste manager for Mac
02

Paste is a little helper app that keeps track of everything you copy or cut into your clipboard and then presents a visual history of it all. It also includes a powerful search and sharing feature. I never thought that something as trivial as the clipboard could be so versatile.

A paper notebook with a digital archive
03

Mod looks like your average Moleskin. The difference is the envelope that's hidden in the back cover. Once you've filled all the pages with your notes and sketches, stick it in the envelope and send it back to Mod. Soon after you'll receive scanned images of each page straight into your cloud service of choice, like Dropbox. (Currently only available in the US.)

Easy time planning for freelancers
04

This tool would have come in handy during my time as a freelancer. Cushion offers a smarter way to schedule projects and make sure you're running at max efficiency. It hooks in with a range of existing invoicing apps to allow for better control of the financial state of your business. I really love the openness by the app's maker, Jonnie Hallman: check out the ongoing list of expenses of this project.

Mouldable glue to fix and improve anything
05

Imagine Play-Doh and Super Glue had a love child. That's what Sugru is. It's a hard rubber-ish material that you can mould in your hands and stick to almost any surface. It's amazing to explore how people use it in a million different ways. The (indie) story behind Sugru is just as fascinating. Big thumbs up!

A minimal, trustworthy VPN provider
06

If you don't know what a VPN is... well you should. Once you start researching for reliable VPN services, you'll realise there is a ton of options out there, many using spammy, in-your-face marketing techniques to get you to sign up. Cloak doesn't. It's a simple, frustration-free VPN provider with a range of easy-to-use apps. (Note if that you're looking for a VPN with Bittorrent access, Cloak is probably not for you.)
