Hippity Hop!!

Hi again, everyone! Another month has come and gone and it was quite a whirlwind for us here at ASCS! First of all, we had some wonderful adoptions! Twelve year old Lovey, who waited a long, long time, found her forever home and she and new mom Jen are happy as can be together! Oliver, who was patiently waiting for a foster home, found one... and then charmed Karen into adopting him!! He is now Buster!! (We have to say, we saw that one coming the minute they met!).

Stevie (now Dustin) and Willow, two sweet eight year old cats, also found incredible new homes... And Lola and Gabriel came and went so fast, we hardly had a chance to photograph them (lucky kitties!).

We sent out a Call to Action for our little Nikki and one of our supporters, Rachel Percival of Alain Pinel Realtors www.rachelpercival.com forwarded our Call to Action to her Marin Realtors Network. Our call for help caught the eye of a nice realtor who forwarded it to a friend and Le Fem Nikkita's prayers were also answered -- she went to her new foster home just Tuesday night!! Thank you Rachel, Christina, and of course Nikki's new foster mom, Ann!!

This meant that we were able to finally rescue those tabby brothers from a central valley shelter -- so look for Cooper and Bobby's pictures to be showing up on kittycam soon. We had no sooner taken them in, when we got another call about a sweet natured boy in Sacramento, so Max was able to come into our program as well.

Unfortunately, we get calls everyday and we can't possibly take them all. If you can help by fostering a cat, or if you are looking to adopt a new friend, then please check out the website www.ascscats.org. Truman, Liza, Sesame, Papi, Panda, Blackjack, Leo and many more are still looking for their special someone! Not only will you give a kitty a home, but you will open up a space for us to rescue someone else. Kitten season is coming, the shelters fill up and too many lovely adult cats are euthanized simply for lack of space... help us to help them!! Even just forwarding this Mews to your friends who might be looking -- or know someone who knows someone... sometimes results in a great new home for one of the kitties!

Thanks, as always, for your support... and Happy Easter from all of us at ASCS!

We just had to share this picture of Gabriel (now Beau) and his new brother Fang... they are the best of pals and it hasn't even been two weeks!! Sometimes they just click!! We love it when that happens!!

FacePainting Fundraiser -- A Fun Night at WnY Warehouse!!

Last Tuesday night there were plenty of 'bunnies hopping' (and cats... and even a goat!!) Yenni Setiawan and Warren Pino hosted a fundraiser for us at there fabulous WnY Warehouse Dance & Fitness Studio in Novato.

Sam Bradshaw and Stacy Chang painted.

Cheryl Beauvais made kitty ears. We sold Janelle Guido's cupcakes and Yenni Setiawan's WINGZ earrings and a great time was had by all...

We thank Warren and Yenni, and all of the dancers who so graciously supported us! And we must also thank Phyllis Axt, who happily spoke to the crowd on behalf of ASCS!! We raised some much needed funds for the cats, YAY! Thank you one and all!!

Meet Liza and Robby

Liza is a darling little tuxedo girl with a medium coat and big fluffy tail!  She is full of spunk and purrsonality.  Liza gets along famously with her foster sibblings -- but she does take time to adjust to other kitties (patience required!!)  -- but well worth the effort...  she is a little doll!!  Liza is about 2 yrs old.

See Robby Dobby Wants a Hug! YouTube

Robby (aka RobbyDobby!) is the sweetest little fellow.  He is all black, with these silly random white hairs just here and there!!  This little guy has the best purrsonality -- he charms everyone!  Robby is sweet, playful and a perfect gentleman!  Robby must be an indoor cat, and would do best with no tiny children (he's a bit shy in a noisy situation with little ones).  Robby is about 2 1/2 years old.

Spunky Seniors Looking for a Home!

Meet Panda, Papi, Tino and Truman ...

Panda is 10. This sweet little tuxedo girl lost her human companion to cancer. She is a gentle, loving kitty and ok with other nice cats. Panda is on a special diet and needs a medication for some mouth issues (but it's pretty simple and not an expensive medication).

Papi is also 10 years old. He is just about the cutest, sweetest tabby boy ever (and I love those tabbies!). His family loves him dearly, but allergies are forcing this issue. Papi would make a lovely companion in a quiet home.

Tino is about 12. What a handsome gent he is! Tino's mom became too ill to care for him and he is hoping for a bit of that gold at the end of the rainbow!!

Truman is about 11. Truman has been looking for a home for some time now and it is much harder for the older kitties, even such a handsome gent. Trummy is super sweet, a very tender and sensitive soul and would make a lovely companion in a quiet home.

You can see more pictures of these kitties on our website www.ascscats.org (just click on 'KittyCam') or you can click on the 'petfinder' link and read more about them!

The Muppet Brothers: Bert, Ernie and Elmo!

Those of you who have known us for awhile know that we have some cats in our care that have never been 'adoptable'. Unfortunately, circumstances have changed and they may lose their living situation. The first 3 kitties we are asking for help with are Bert, Ernie and Elmo. Years ago, I fed their mother in a feral colony. They were kittens then -- we trapped them and had them neutered, vaccinated, etc... They are now 5 yrs old. Bert is a buff and white tabby.  Ernie and Elmo are grey tabbies.  Although they have always lived indoors, know the daily routine, love their wet food and nightly treats, we can still not pet them. Bert and Ernie sleep together -- Elmo is part of the gang, but definitely the shyer of the three. I would love for them to have a place together, at least Bert and Ernie. They are feral, but not barn cats -- they have lived a cozy life indoors. If you have a situation where they could be comfortable -- well, that would be some 'pot of gold'!! They are super cute, sweet and have fun personalities (just like the muppets!!)

We Need Foster Care (DESPERATELY!)

Help!! These beautiful cats would love a place to hang out while waiting for their forever home...

BlackJack is a black kitty. He is 4yrs old and just beautiful with his medium length coat and big beautiful eyes! He is in foster care in the East Bay, but it is difficult for him to make our adoption events and so harder to find that forever home.  We would love to find him a spot in Marin so he could get to more adoption events.

Gracie and Chubs ... We just heard about a friend of a friend with cancer.  She has to move to be closer to family and cannot take her two beloved cats with her.  Gracie is an adorable tabby/tortie --  sweet, ten years old.  Chubbs is a big, gorgeous orange and white mainecoon boy -- 3 years old.  They need a place by the end of April.  Of course, a forever home would be wonderful, but a foster home would also give us time to deal with the situation.  Their pictures and story will be on the website soon.

Any of these cats would appreciate your help. ASCS will take care of their medical expenses, as well as food, litter, toys and beds. You can see more pictures of these kitties on our website www.ascscats.org (just click on 'KittyCam') or you can click on the 'petfinder' link and read more about them!

"Not So Crazy Cat People"

Our humans are a diverse group of Not So Crazy Cat People. They have careers that range from service to professional, retailer, graphic designer, author, program manager, software developer, business owner, dancer, teacher, veterinarian. They are fully employed, have fulfilling personal and professional lives, are passionate about rescuing animals and they find the time and balance to help ASCS Cats. Get to know them and you will see, maybe you are a Not So Crazy Cat Person too? Is there some special gift or skill you possess that could help? Got a little time to foster a kitty, or two? Maybe come and hang out at adoption day and give us kitties head rubs, belly rubs, love... and treats work, too! We’ll purr if you do!!!

Purrs and biscuits to our wonderful volunteers and foster parents:
Marin: Cheryl Beauvais & Tom Montgomery, Sam Bradshaw & Tom Paderna, Ron Capasso, Tripti Noorani and her wonderful family (Ajmal, Sasha, Tina, Arman), Robyn Piper, Heather Rhine, Susan Shea, Becca Martinson and her lovely family
Sacramento: Mary Bruck, Kim Koski, Rosemary Lamb, Chris Levine, Georgann Eberhardt
Our angels on wheels: Michele McCabe, Bob Fruendt, Rosemary Lamb

We could not be so happy and healthy without our wonderful veterinarians:
Doctors Bill, Moore, Lie and Okada and staff at East San Rafael Vet Clinic, Dr. Gary Blood Veterinary Housecalls and Tamalpais Pet Hospital

Mrrrow-meow (that’s thanks) to these Marin businesses for their support!

And a special thanks to Purina for their generous donation of food to feed the kitties while in our care!
