Will You Win Your Client’s Vote?

By Andy Scherer

I truly do not like discussing politics with people because someone is guaranteed to have a different opinion. Whether it be creating jobs, tax cuts, or any other hot button issue throughout Connecticut, there are heated debates amongst all candidates. However, there are a few things that you can learn from the campaign process to help your business improve your image.

Throughout the past few months, there has been a significant amount of misinformation from candidates; people claiming one thing and having another fact revealed merely days (or hours) later. And, better yet, a more detailed third fact come into play just after that. Take advantage of these candidates’ mistakes and be honest. Be as honest as possible with yourself as well as with your clientele. By establishing the honest relationship you are building trust and, therefore, improving your brand image.

Second, let’s take a look at the majority of candidates’ delivery strategies; a tremendous amount of their promotion is done by themselves. In other words, they are the ones delivering the message on television, they are broadcast over the radio, and they are the ones that give speeches. Honestly, I am at the point where I don’t want to hear anymore from any candidate, but I would love to hear from people and families that they have impacted throughout their careers. You have that opportunity to share your customers’ experiences with your entire audience through the utilization of testimonials. When you include testimonials for your products and/or services, you provide your potential clients with the opportunity to obtain honest feedback from people like them (your target audience). This not only establishes a sense of trust, but it also proves that your brand is worth the investment.
