Vietnamese Medical Group Visits Texas - USA

The National Pediatric Hospital (NPH) and Nam Dinh University of Nursing are two of Glocal Ventures’ (GVI’s) local partners in Vietnam. In March 2014, GVI led a Vietnamese delegation, made up of five medical professionals from both institutions, to North Texas for continued learning and observation.

The Vietnamese medical delegation visited the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children and the Children’s Medical Center of Dallas where they observed academic healthcare systems at work.  They also visited Baylor University’s School of Nursing where they observed simulation labs focused on Health Assessment Simulation, Low-Fidelity Simulation, Pediatric Simulation, and more.  Baylor University’s School of Nursing has partnered with GVI for the last five years sending faculty and students to co-teach with local Vietnamese medical professionals.

During the visit, the Nam Dinh University of Nursing in collaboration with GVI signed another five yearmemorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate and continue their long-term partnership. This was an exciting time for all!

In addition to continued learning opportunities, the team had time to engage in cultural activities with those from Texas and the United States.  Overall the team gained valuable information and observed techniques that they plan to use in each of their institutions to improve the quality of nursing education and healthcare in Vietnam.

Sports Team visits Vietnam - March 2014

With three trips in 18 months, the Sports Team continues to work in Bac Ha and Sapa Districts in Lao Cai Province. Chad Griffin, the trip leader and 4-time visitor, came to Vietnam with three new team members. They have a love for sports and physical exercise and bring this love to the kids in these mountainous areas, where poor conditions and limited resources have resulted in few avenues of entertainment and exercise.
