PH 2nd Grade eNews

Please don’t forget we are out of school Friday, March 20th. The following week will be our Spring Break - no school March 23rd-27th. We will take all of our normal Friday tests on Thursday this week.

Next Week

  • Bible - We will be learning about Martha and her faith. Our story comes from John 11.
  • Memory Verse - John 11:25, Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me, even if he dies, will live.”
  • Reading - Our story will be “The Mysterious Tadpole” and our target skill is Story Structure.
  • Spelling - Our spelling words will be final stable syllable tion and sion. Here are some examples:  lotion   action   nation   tension   mansion   mission
  • Grammar - We will work with contractions this week.
  • Science - Frogs vs toads and animal life cycles
  • Math - We will continue working on perimeter, subtraction, addition, multiplication, and division. We will also continue working on word problems. No test this week, other than speed drills. Keep practicing math facts!

Important Dates

  • March 16 - Mrs. Hickman will pick best 3 students to say our Easter poem.
  • March 17 - Students may wear green on this day or St. Patrick Day t shirts if they bring $1.00. This money will go to the Compassion Center.
  • March 18 - The best 3 students will say our Easter poem to Mrs. Creekmore, and she will pick 1 student from our class to share it at our Easter Chapel.
  • March 19 - Student led conferences 3:30-5:00, drop in for about 15 minutes, no sign up required
  • March 20-27 - NO SCHOOL - SPRING BREAK
  • April 6 - Spirit dress with a $1 or more donation to the Teacher Compassion Fund
  • April 9 - Easter Chapel @ 8:30 a.m. & Easter Parties @ 2:30 p.m.
  • April 10 - No School - Good Friday, pending no snow days
  • April 14 - Transition meeting for second grade students going into third grade. This meeting will be with Mrs. Foley at 11:30 on the Main Campus.
  • April 13-17- Standardized testing (please don’t make any morning appointments during these dates and make every effort to be here) We do not make up tests.
