Dyers Pass Road shoulder width explainedUp to 1.25 metres is being added to the width of the narrowest parts of Dyers Pass Road as we work to make the road safer for drivers and cyclists. Dyers Pass Road is windy and only around 5.5 to 6 metres wide in many areas, however, contractors Higgins Construction are working to increase the width of the sealed road to a consistent 6.75 metres. The additional road shoulder width is expected to improve everyone’s safety and reduce conflict between road users. Work updateWe’ve got two work sites on the city side of the hill with one under stop go during the day and a long site under traffic lights. There's also a short site under traffic lights on the Governors Bay side of the hill. There are now safety barriers going in on a couple of sites - expect to see plenty more going in before we finish work at the end of August.
