Surgery Research Conference: Transplant Surgery Research UpdatesThank you to all who were able to attend our Surgery Research Conference last Wednesday night, which featured Drs. Hong, Zimmerman & Kim presenting updates from the Division of Transplant Surgery!
In an effort to advance cancer research with a goal of improving the health of Wisconsin citizens, the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center is seeking pilot grant proposals on any type of cancer, and with special emphasis on breast, prostate and any cancers.
The Faculty Vitality Award is intended to promote academic vitality, career development, and clinical and/or research productivity within a flexible structure which recognizes the value of scholarly development as well as the need to balance this with other professional responsibilities. All faculty with six or more years of full-time or full professional effort service to MCW at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher are eligible to apply for the awards. Designed to support faculty members who wish to pursue a significant career
objective in a formalized manner and in a concentrated period of time, the award(s) provides limited financial support for faculty-defined projects anticipated to benefit both the faculty member and MCW.
The Central Surgical Association Foundation sponsors two annual awards (The Turcotte & Elsevier, Inc. Enrichment Awards), each in the amount of $20,000, to support surgical scholarship and research and advance the science of surgery. All members of the Association are eligible to apply.
To support highly innovative, high-impact projects that build on work in progress that could ultimately lead to critical discoveries or major advancements that will accelerate the field of cardiovascular and stroke research.
The proposed research must have a direct relevance to the diagnosis and/or treatment of pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer or other pancreas diseases. Applicants must be employed by an institution engaged in health-related research. Be a physician or hold an advanced degree (MD, DO, PhD or international equivalent) working in any country within 10 years of obtaining his/her degree at the time of grant submission. The applicant further must agree to be supervised by a mentor in the proposed research filed from the sponsoring institution at all times while conducting research supported by the NPF.

WCS 2019 will provide a platform for scientific and clinical working groups where they can collaborate to establish the foundations for future diagnostic and surgical challenges, and discuss novel approaches and standards, facilitating progress towards real-time, patient-oriented solutions.
The Annual Meeting brings together oncology professionals from around the world to discuss state-of-the-art treatment modalities, new therapies, and ongoing controversies in the field.
