CPC Statement on the Rise in Anti-Asian Hate Crimes

CPC denounces the rise in anti-Asian discrimination and hate crimes in New York and around the country. ​CPC condemns violence and hate of all forms, ​and calls on government officials and community leaders to promote safety, respect, and dignity in all neighborhoods. However, this does not mean over-policing, but rather investment in communities and in restorative justice to ensure that there is accountability and healing.​ Resources must be allocated to provide human services, health care, and mental health supports.

CPC Food Program Featured on NBC News with Heart of Dinner

NBC News had a story that followed CPC Brooklyn Community Services Director Steve Mei on his weekly round of meal deliveries to our senior community members, including Mr. and Mrs. Lee. This weekly ritual fights hunger in partnership with Heart of Dinner. It has also become a time to visit with familiar faces and connect during a time of isolation and loneliness.

CPC IRA Residents and Staff Receive COVID-19 Vaccination

Residents and staff of CPC Individual Residential Alternative (IRA) at the Josephine M. Ho Community Residence for Special Needs and staff received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on January 28th from Walgreens Pharmacy. The IRA Community Residence has been operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week with staff support to provide care for the six residents living with developmental disabilities.

Remote Free Immigration Legal Consultation Day
Chinese-American Planning Council Brooklyn Community Services in partnership with NYS Office for New Americans (ONA) will be hosting a Remote Immigration Legal Consultation Day on Thursday, March 11th, 2021! If you need help on immigration application or have immigration concerns, please call to make an appointment to speak with our ONA Legal Counsel! Consultations are free and available to everyone. Space is limited, please call to make your appointment!

Free Construction Training Program Begins in March!
CPC is accepting applications for the Spring 2021 session of BuildingWorks' FREE training program. This is a 5-week class that will prepare individuals for a career as a Union Carpenter. 

The next class will begin on March 22 and end on April 30. Classes meet Monday thru Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM. Classes will be conducted in Lower Manhattan, with some classes held virtually. 

To apply: First, fill out an application form online at: https://tiny.cc/cpccareercenter. Please submit an application before March 12 to be considered for the upcoming class. 

Career Center
Many of our services are available via virtual/remote access. We will be providing one-on-one career counseling, resume reviewing, searching and applying for jobs, and more. To get started, simply fill out a short info form at https://tiny.cc/cpccareercenter. Staff from the Career Center will respond within two business days with the next steps. Communication will be mainly conducted through online services (i.e. Zoom) and email.
