Click here Hi there, As Aucklanders cross fingers, touch wood and pray to the heavens for news of a move down to Level 3 next week (or else), they, along with the rest of the country, are pondering what a vaccinated future looks like. With international travel, door entry for large public events and even some jobs all likely to require proof of vaccination, questions are swirling on whether those annoyingly-larger-than-credit-card-sized, 'not-official-government-document' purple vaccination certificates will cut it. We've done a bit of digging and can reveal that, despite indications to the contrary, this government is thinking beyond eliminating Delta. While across the ditch digital certificates are being issued now, our electronic vaccination certificates won’t be here until ‘around December’. And plans are apparently 'on track' – despite the current outbreak – for New Zealand to begin a staged opening up of the border next year. In the meantime, vaccination passports are sure to raise plenty of debate with concerns over privacy, equity, ethics and the potential for creep already being hotly debated elsewhere. But if you want to just get on and embrace the benefits of technology, you might do well to make certain you provide your vaccinator with that magic little code called your NHI. It may just be the key that unlocks your future.
