Research Update

Good afternoon,

Linked below is the March 2018 Domestic Tax Paid Estimate.

Below find a few key points provided by our Chief Economist, Michael Uhrich:

  • U.S. domestic beer shipment volume decreased by 3.1% this March, which had one less selling day compared to March 2017.
  • On a selling-day-adjusted basis, domestic shipment volume was up 1.3%.
  • The severe and pervasive inventory issues throughout the value chain which affected February’s shipments continued into March. This has resulted in significantly less expansion in distributor inventory than is typical during the first quarter of the year and may impact second quarter depletions.

If you have any questions, please contact Michael at either 202-737-2337 or muhrich@beerinstitute.org.
