Tuesday, March 22nd tornados tore through numerous states, causing wide-spread damage. A deadly EF-3 tornado devastated a residential neighborhood in New Orleans, near the lower 9th ward. This area was severely impacted by Hurricane Katrina, as well as a recent hurricane.
Our Hope Force Disaster Response Coordinator, Aaron Stetson, traveled to New Orleans the next day after these devastating tornados tore through the city. The damage is overwhelming to see; the people in the neighborhoods impacted were dazed and overwhelmed. Adding to the heartbreak of the already devastating situation is the sight of many homes -- still covered with blue tarps from Hurricane Ida which hit the region last August. Louisiana just keeps getting hit, over and over again, by these deadly disasters
We are deploying into the New Orleans area for about a week and we need you! Our primary focus will be roof tarping; the weather forecast looks clear for the next seven days and we want to get homes covered up quickly before the rains come in.
