NCTRC Conducted Annual Certificants’ MeetingThe Annual NCTRC Certificants’ meeting was held on Monday, September 16, 2019 during the ATRA Annual Conference in Reno, NV. During the meeting, the following topics were reviewed: acknowledgement of current and former members of the Board of Directors and Standing Committees, ICE/NCCA accreditation status, standards updates, exam information/pass rates, status of the CTRS Specialization Area Designation program, marketing news, nominations and elections, and NCTRC accomplishments over the past year. To provide access to the certificants’ meeting for individuals who are not in
attendance at either the CTRA or the ATRA annual conferences, NCTRC will begin facilitating the Annual Certificant’s meeting live via distance technology (Zoom) in 2020. NCTRC Board of Directors Conducts Meeting at Brock UniversityThe NCTRC Board of Directors recently conducted its fall meeting on October 1–3, 2019 at Brock University in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada. The NCTRC Board meets in person twice a year (Spring and Fall) to conduct its business and to review current issues and strategic initiatives. The Board had a very productive meeting that included a discussion related to the new marketing initiatives, recent strategic plan revision and overall status of the credentialing program, among many other topics. Melissa Davis elected “Chair-Elect” of the NCTRC Board of DirectorsMelissa Davis, M.A., LRT/CTRS was elected to the position of Chair-Elect of the NCTRC Board of Directors at the Board's fall meeting. Melissa, who has served in the capacity of Vice Chair and a member of the Executive Committee during the past year, will assume the position of Chair of the NCTRC Board of Directors in April 2020. Melissa earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Winston-Salem State University and her Master of Arts degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies/Recreation Administration from the University of Toledo. Melissa currently works for Absolute
Staffers as a government contractor at the Center for The Intrepid (CFI) on Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) base, a part of Fort Sam Houston. The CFI is one of the leading outpatient rehab facilities for amputee care, burn related injuries/incidents, oncology, and other orthopedic trauma related injuries/illnesses for service members (active or veteran) of all branches. In her role she provides community-based programing to reintegrate patients back into society to return to duty, school or work. Additionally, she provides aquatic therapy & exercises to patients and facilitates aquatic games as a certified lifeguard.
Recertification Deadline ApproachingNCTRC would like to remind you that if your five-year recertification cycle expires at the end of 2019, you will need to submit your recertification application via MY NCTRC Login before December 31, 2019. NCTRC can not accept recertification applications after this date. If you are required to be certified for your employment, NCTRC recommends submitting your application early. To submit your application, log in to MY NCTRC Login.
Attention Internship Agency SupervisorsFor NCTRC to verify your employment status as an internship supervisor, all active CTRS internship supervisors are asked to go to the dashboard profile found at My NCTRC Login and update/input your employment information by clicking on My Profile.
NCTRC offers Live Tutorial for Recertification Application SubmissionNCTRC will be offering a tutorial on how to submit a recertification application on
December 10 from 9-10am EST. If you are interested in participating in this training, please send an email to nctrc@nctrc.org and you will receive an email with information on how to access the Zoom call. Also, if you have any suggestions for other tutorials you would like NCTRC to do, please let us know by emailing nctrc@nctrc.org.
