Highlight: WPI’s 2016 STEM Faculty Launch Workshop


Learn how to pursue, apply for, and successfully launch your faculty career with the STEM Faculty Launch Workshop, a premier workshop for graduate students and post-doctoral researchers seeking tenure-track positions. This workshop is open to candidates nationwide; women and traditionally underrepresented minority candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

Participants attend a variety of interactive sessions, present their research to expert faculty, and gain exposure to project-based learning, a hallmark of WPI education. All invited participants receive funding to cover travel expenses to and from WPI as well as lodging and meals during the workshop.

Congratulations to our 2016 BioMed Graduates!

Congratulations to all those who will be receiving Doctoral and Master's degrees from the Division of Biology and Medicine this weekend. We are looking forward to a wonderful ceremony in celebration of their accomplishments!

The Stats: 28 BioMed students will receive their Doctoral degree and 45 will receive their Master’s degree this Sunday.

Celebrate Together: Dean Harrington is hosting a pre-commencement gathering for our graduates, their families, and faculty mentors starting at 7:30 AM in Metcalf Research Lab's first floor lobby. Refreshments will be available.

The goal of the Hackathon is to encourage curiosity about Lyme disease diagnostics and treatment among new researchers and labs and to build the pipeline for additional Lyme disease research. Postdoc Opportunity

Fellow - Cato Research - Durham, NC or San Diego, CA

The Cato Research Fellows Program provides postgraduate training in the development of investigational and marketed pharmaceutical and medical device products.  This one year program offers some classroom training, but largely focuses on hands-on training in a variety of areas including regulatory affairs, clinical research, safety reporting, data management, statistics, pharmaceutical development, project planning, and finance. Of particular interest are applicants with a PhD in Medicinal, Pharmaceutical, or Organic Chemistry; Molecular Biology; Toxicology; Pharmacology; or closely related disciplines.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Neurobiology - Genentech - South San Francisco, CA

Morgan Sheng’s lab in the Department of Neuroscience is seeking a postdoc to perform cutting-edge basic and translational research on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of nervous system disorders (especially neurodegenerative diseases) and/or synapse development and plasticity. He/she would address fundamental scientific questions, formulate hypotheses, design and execute experiments (with support from superb core facilities), interpret data, and write and publish original papers.
