STAR WARS™ IDENTITIES: THE EXHIBITION IN SYDNEYThere will be no need to travel to a galaxy far, far away with the Australian premiere exhibition of STAR WARS™ Identities to open at the Powerhouse Museum this November. Developed by X3 Productions in collaboration with Lucasfilm Ltd, the interactive exhibition has been secured exclusively for Sydney by the NSW Government via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, in partnership with the Museum of Arts & Applied Sciences. Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said, “With millions of Star Wars fans
around Australia and the world, we expect the exhibition will attract more than 70,000 overnight visitors to Sydney and inject approximately $16 million into the NSW visitor economy. “STAR WARS™ Identities is an interactive and educational exhibition experience that will feature 200 original objects used in the making of the blockbuster Star Wars movies, including 12 that have never been seen before," he said. STAY IN PORT MACQUARIEIRONMAN Australia will continue to shine the sporting spotlight on Port Macquarie, with the iconic global event returning to the region for the next three years. Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams said, “IRONMAN Australia Port Macquarie is expected to attract more than 33,000 overnight visitors and generate over $27 million for the local economy across the three year period. “It's events such as this that allow us to showcase why our region is such a great destination, with many IRONMAN competitors returning to the region for a holiday with friends and family,” she said. IRONMAN Australia Port Macquarie is an endurance triathlon event that includes

POWERHOUSE MUSEUM COMING TO PARRAMATTANSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced this week that the Powerhouse Museum will relocate to stunning new premises in Parramatta and accommodate Australia’s largest and most advanced planetarium. The expanded world-class Powerhouse Museum will form the centrepiece of a new arts and cultural precinct on the banks of the Parramatta River, including a modernised Riverside Theatres complex. “It will be bigger and better than anything NSW has ever seen and will rival global cultural icons such as the London Science Museum and the Smithsonian Air and Space
Museum,” Ms Berejiklian said. “It’s so important that young people are excited and inspired by science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics because the jobs of tomorrow will rely heavily on these disciplines.” Early works begin in 2019 with the venue expected to open to visitors in 2023.
‘SYDNEYPOREANS’ CAMPAIGN WINS MARKIES AWARDSInnovative video content series, ‘Meet The Sydneyporeans’, has won a Gold and two Silver awards at the MARKies 2018 – one of Singapore’s largest marketing award shows. The series, created in a partnership between Qantas and Destination NSW, won Gold for Best Use of Integrated Media and Silver for both Best Idea: Digital and Best Use of TV/Video. ‘Meet The Sydneyporeans’ features Singaporeans living in Sydney. ECONOMIC CONTRIBUTION OF TOURISM TO NSW Destination NSW has released a new fact sheet on the importance of tourism to NSW and its contribution to the State economy. Based on the latest State Tourism Satellite Accounts report from Tourism Research Australia, NSW continued its national leadership in tourism employment with 262,000 direct and indirect tourism jobs in 2016-17. Tourism consumption of international and domestic visitors to NSW reached its highest level on record at $40.5 billion. Download the full report here.

NOW OPEN Reigning Men: Fashion in Menswear 1715 – 2015 is now open at the Powerhouse Museum. The exhibition features iconic examples of menswear spanning over 300 years and traversing the globe, challenging the common association between fashion and femininity. It has been secured exclusively for Sydney by the NSW Government via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, in partnership with the Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences’ Centre for Fashion.
CAPTAIN COOK'S LANDING TO BE RECOGNISED FOR
250TH ANNIVERSARYThe Australian and NSW Government have committed $50 million to upgrade visitor, transport, educational and commemorative infrastructure at Kurnell, the landing site of then Lt James Cook and the HMB Endeavour on 29 April 1770. The work will include a new aquatic monument that takes in the original mooring site, to be completed in time for the 250th anniversary in 2020, with other funded works to be completed during the next few years. WHALE WATCHING SEASON UNDERWAY IN NSW Over 30,000 humpback whales are about to make their presence felt as they begin their annual migration from Antarctica, along the coast of NSW and north to warmer waters. NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER Destination NSW has appointed Pascal Reiling as Business Development and Partnership Marketing Manager for Germany and France based in Frankfurt. Mr Reiling will be responsible for developing and implementing trade marketing and business development plans in both countries, to deliver programs and activities that drive overnight visitation and expenditure to Australia’s number one tourism and events State. Mr Reiling has previously held senior marketing roles with Tourism Ireland, the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia and Reunion Island Tourist Board.
