Hail Hot Bottlers!

I'm delighted to share that The Great British Food Awards have officially announced the winner of Best Drinks Writer....

Me!

I'm utterly thrilled and extend warmest thanks to all who voted and took part in these prestigious awards. I'd like to dedicate my award to every single person around the world who devotes their days to making delicious drinks for us all to delight in. Cheers!

My new BBC Radio 2 food and drink show will broadcast on 29th August, Bank Holiday Monday at midday. I'm joined by Levi Roots and together we are cooking the ultimate summer barbecue and bringing a taste of the Caribbean to the airwaves. Tune in for great music and look out for the recipes and drinks in the Radio Times and on our show page at the BBC Radio 2 website, just search for Bank Holiday BBQ with Olly Smith & Levi Roots. I can give you the heads up that Levi's lamb is off the scale delicious.

I'll be joining Saturday Kitchen on BBC1, 27th August with Selin Kiazim and Dan Doherty....

And I'll be off to the USA this summer and autumn filming my brand new series for the Food Network, Olly's Ale Trail. More news soon as I sip my way through the the beer frontier.

Wishing you a wonderful summer, do keep in touch across social media:

Facebook, Twitter, WeChat ollysaysganbei and Instagram. You can even find me on Snapchat ollysmithwine.

And my website ollysmith.com has everything you need to search for wine whatever store you find yourself in.

Here's three bargain wines to keep you quenched in the heat:

WONDER WHITE: Aldi The Exquisite Collection Clare Valley Riesling 2014 (12%) £6.99. If you fancy a change from Sauvignon Blanc, give this zesty stunner from Down Under a whirl. It's a dart of fresh lime fired from a taut citrus bow channeling refreshment direct to your soul!

ROCKING ROSÉ: Mirabeau Rosé 2015 (13.5%) is usually £9.79 in Waitrose but there's often a deal to be had. Look for opportunities of 20% off and swoop swiftly - this Provençal rosé is as elegant as it is scrumptious and aside from being worth every penny of its full price is an absolute steal if you spot any further incentives in store or online. Watch it like a hawk.

RIPE RED: Marks and Spencer Domaine de la Clairiège 2015 (12%) £5.50 makes me think of Savile Row suits for Primark cash. Great value picnic wine with summery easy fruit - it's a top all rounder for your kitchen table or weeknight red. And at £5.50 you'll struggle to find better for the price. Snap it up.

With love and thanks for your kindness over the years and here's to the glory of sharing the good things in life.

Hugs,

Olly x
