Editor's note

Nigeria’s electoral commission sent shockwaves through the country when it announced hours before polling was due to begin that the elections were being postponed. This isn’t the first time that polling has been postponed in the country. But, as Fola Adeleke writes, the reasons given this time are much weaker than on previous occasions, and are playing directly into peoples’ mistrust of the ability of the country to hold free and fair elections.

For his part Uche Onyebadi looks at what Nigeria’s great musicians and writers have had to say about the inadequacies of their country’s leadership.
