Telereal Trillium agrees sale with Cardiff University to facilitate development of world-class facilities

London, 24 May 2018 – Telereal Trillium was pleased to announce the sale of a 10-acre site to Cardiff University for future development of its College of Biomedical and Life Sciences. The site, on St Agnes Road in Gabalfa, is located two miles north of the City Centre and adjacent to the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) Heath Park campus.

Community role created at Plasdŵr, Cardiff's new Garden City

The former stakeholder engagement manager of Tidal Lagoon Power has been appointed to drive community relationships at Plasdŵr, Cardiff’s garden city that is being created over the next 15 years in the capital’s north west.

Katie Powis takes up the newly created position of community liaison manager, reporting into Project Director, Wayne Rees of lead developer, Redrow Homes, and Mike Lawley of Cooke & Arkwright, who represents landowner, the Plymouth Estate.

A new Burger King drive-thru has been announced for Newport Leisure Park, creating around 40 new jobs and providing a new restaurant offering for the Park.

Court of Appeal reduces rateable value on Blackpool office block to nominal £1

Cardiff shines as one of the UK's new Business capitals

A new study of British Business Success and Growth in 2018 by Lloyds Bank has named Cardiff as one of the top five UK city hotspots for growth, with business booming thanks to a large number of entrepreneurs.

The bank spoke to businesses across the UK and found that regionally, 75% of businesses in the East of England and 71% in the South West, Wales and the West Midlands are experiencing the fastest growth. Cardiff and Birmingham were joint fifth hotspots after Bristol, London, Brighton and Norwich.

Mermaid quay could get facelift

The landlords of Mermaid Quay have applied for planning permission for works to change the layout and look of the quayside restaurant and leisure destination, saying it will create a 'contemporary dockside feel'.

As well as around the Mermaid Quay buildings, works will extend to Bute Street, Stuart Street, Bute Crescent and Tacoma Square. The redesign will provide a new location for events and entertainment, and new paving, seating and planting will be installed.

Revival plans for 'City of Arcades'

Cardiff's Business Improvement District (BID), named FOR Cardiff, is to invest in raising the profile of the city's arcades. The project is set to run until 2021, and will refurbish them to their original glory.

The seven unique arcades run between the city's main shoppping areas and are populated with more than 100, mostly independent shops, cafes and bars. FOR Cardiff aims to restore them as Cardiff's 'crown jewels' again and highlight Cardiff as the City of Arcades.

Bake Record Smashed! Over £500 raised for velindre

We smashed it! Staff at Cooke & Arkwright got their oven gloves on and baked up an amazing array of delectable cakes and pastries that were a feast for the eyes and delicious to eat. Even more amazing was the amount we raised for our chosen charity: Velindre Cancer Centre. Over £500 is a fantastic contribution towards the funds we are raising this year for the specialist cancer centre at Velindre in Cardiff. The only way is up!

 
what a load of old rubbish - C&A sweep coast clean

On April 20th staff spent the afternoon picking up an assortment of plastic and litter from the beautiful coastline at Ogmore by Sea. Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) provided the equipment and health and safety advice, and permission for the clean-up was granted by the owner of the beach, Dunraven Estate.

Last year we cleaned up at Swanbridge in Sully. Cooke & Arkwright is commited to helping to protect the environment, as demonstrated by our ISO 14001 Environmental Management certification, and members of staff volunteer to undertake an annual exercise that actively helps to make a difference.
