This month, we want to highlight two recently completed projects with our corporate philanthropic partners. Over the past three years, Root Cause provided capacity building support, coaching, and peer-to-peer learning opportunities to strengthen the work and impact of State Street Foundation’s nonprofit grantees. With State Street’s partnership, Root Cause provided tools and resources, delivered 17 workshops and webinars, and provided over 630 coaching hours to 24 nonprofit organizations. Similarly, 2023 brought to a close a five-year partnership with the Biogen Foundation. In 2017, Root Cause worked with the Biogen Foundation to design and launch a new philanthropic initiative in its headquarters community of Cambridge and Somerville, MA. Root Cause served as the backbone organization for STAR (Science, Teacher support, Access & Readiness), a 5-year, $12M STEM ecosystem building initiative that advances educational equity for students in grades 6-14 who have been historically underrepresented in STEM. Over the past five years, STAR has served over 4000 students and 600 educators in 15 schools. Root Cause works with companies to support their nonprofit grantees, launch and manage new philanthropic initiatives, and engage local communities to advance positive social change.. New: Collaboration for Impact: Peer Learning & Action CohortWe’ve heard that initiatives focused on deeper collaboration are interested in a structured, facilitated space to reflect on current work, plan for action, and strengthen peer connections. In response, Root Cause is launching a peer learning and action cohort this year. Each cohort of 6-10 initiatives will participate in a structured, 6-month virtual program to 1) identify priority areas for improvement and develop plans to address them and 2) build peer networks to support and strengthen their work over time. If you are interested in participating or funding a cohort, fill out this form so we can connect! 2023 Root Cause Impact ReportAt Root Cause, our goal is to help our partners drive effective and enduring social change.
