Deadline for Proposed Blue Box Program Windup Plan Extended

In a direction letter dated April 3, 2020, the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks extended the deadline for submission of Stewardship Ontario's (SO) proposed Blue Box Program Windup Plan to the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA) from June 30 to August 31, 2020.

The recently released Draft Final CIF Windup Plan will be amended accordingly and
re-posted to the CIF website. If you haven't already done so, we encourage you to review the document and provide your thoughts to CIF, SO or RPRA staff. 

The extension was requested by SO due to the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure meaningful consultation with stakeholders. Consultation webinars scheduled for April 7 and 8 were postponed. SO will continue to monitor the situation and reschedule the webinars at a suitable time. The new deadline for stakeholder feedback is now July 8, 2020.

The plan must still meet the requirements outlined in the Minister’s August 15, 2019 direction letter, including the expectation of RPRA to review, consult on and approve the plan no later than December 31, 2020.
