3 October - Community Inclusion Workshop

Do you want to create change for a family member or an individual you work with?

Our signature training program is the Community Inclusion Workshop.  This workshop is ideal for friends, family or support workers of people with a disability and will encourage you to think about your version of a fulfilling life, and relate that to what others may see as a rich life for themselves.

You will think about a good life in the context of community, drawing from your uniquely human experience to consider the way connections with others are made and enhanced. This same thinking will then be analysed based on what we know about the people we support.

9 October - Professional Boundaries for Human Services Workers

This workshop is an open discussion on the professional boundaries between the human services worker and the individuals they work for, and determining the necessary steps to prevent boundary violations. 23 October - Promote and Maintain Motivation

This workshop aims to enhance a worker’s skillset through discussion of various motivational theories and the exploration of “Brief Motivational Interviewing.” This tool is widely used internationally to enhance the collaborative relationship between the worker and their client by means of giving the worker additional skills in their repertoire to facilitate the person centred approach to developing plans and goals with the client.
The client is the centre of this particular thought process. Motivation to change is elicited from the client by way of the worker using different communication strategies to discuss options, and not impose them on the client. This way the worker’s respect for a client’s autonomy will facilitate the client’s freedom of choice to decide what their goals will be, with the worker’s role to provide support in reaching that goal.

30 October - Supporting Inclusion in the Workplace

This workshop aims to explore the nuances of supporting a person to maintain employment, and to thrive in their workplace. We will not be focussing on the skills people need to perform their work, but the skills people need to be successful in the workplace.  Investing in positive relationships with others is likely to be just as, or more valuable to individuals as their ability to perform work duties.
