Community Spotlight

AirBeam mini

As cities get hotter, heat stress is becoming a daily reality for millions of people who walk, cycle, commute, and work outdoors. UrbanBetter's Hot-Steppers initiative is exploring how rising urban temperatures are changing the way people move through cities—and what that means for public health and climate adaptation. By collecting data and engaging communities, Hot-Steppers is generating evidence on heat-related health risks while helping drive solutions for cooler, more climate-resilient urban environments. Participants are also bringing AirBeam Mini along on their Hot-Steppers walks, pairing air quality measurements with firsthand experiences of navigating extreme heat.
