ABOUT SCAP

ABOUT SCAP

The Sunshine Coast Art Prize (SCAP) is a national contemporary 2D acquisitive art prize presented by the Sunshine Coast Council and principal partner: Friends Regional Gallery Caloundra Inc.

Now in its fifth year, the Prize has once again attracted the best contemporary and emerging artists Australia has to offer with the winner receiving a $15,000 prize plus a 4 week placement as artist in residence at Arley Farm, Maleny, situated on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, valued at $5,000.

The winning artwork will be added to the Sunshine Coast Council Collection, the calibre of which is growing each year along with the reputation of the Prize. There is opportunity for the remaining finalists to receive a Highly Commended prize, a promotional package from 3E Innovative valued at $3,545 and the Peoples’ Choice award of $2,500.

SCAP FOR SALE

The SCAP exhibition provides a valuable opportunity for art collectors to view and purchase art works by leading and emerging Australian artists. For each work sold from the exhibition, 25% will be provided to the Friends Regional Gallery Caloundra Inc. in support of the Gallery.

SCAP ONLINE

The success of introducing SCAP Online in previous years, has established the Prize as one of the most accessible art awards and exhibitions in Australia. SCAP Online is a virtual view of the finalists in the SCAP exhibition at Caloundra Regional Gallery. An inclusive online initiative allows visitors to the site to contribute their nomination to the Peoples’ Choice award and has the added benefit of a purchasing facility. Visit www.scap.org.au
