Renovations Begin to 70s-era PE Building

Inline Image

The 1st Choice Savings Centre for Sport and Wellness has been a welcome modern addition to the Physical Education building, but not much has changed to the core of the nearly 40-year-old facility.

That won’t be the case this fall after the PE Building gets a facelift.

Preparations are well underway for the existing mechanical and electrical systems to  be upgraded, and for some much needed renovations to several areas of Levels 0, 1 and 2.

“It’ll be a much more comfortable facility in terms of climate. It’s going to be significantly brighter,” said Project Manager Jason Baranec.

Aside from a few minor restorations, the PE building hasn’t changed since the 1970s when it was first built. When complete, the renovations will reflect the Wellness Centre look, and will  create a more cohesive environment.

Luxie was on hand at the Bank of Montreal’s Main Branch Friday, May 18, to help celebrate the financial benefits available to alumni, U of L students, faculty and staff through the U of L – BMO Affinity program.

The program includes the special rates on financial services as well as the U of L BMO MasterCard that helps the University Community show their connection to the U of L and through their purchases help support alumni programs that benefit alumni and U of L students.

NOTE: The actual cards are more manageable. It's tough to explain the concept of 'oversize demonstration card'  to an oversize blue pronghorn. Who doesn't speak. Learn more here
