Reality Ventura VBS Team Wants YOU!

Hey Ventura family, it's time for us to build our Vacation Bible School team!

We have such exciting things planned for The Great Pursuit (August 4-8), and we want YOU to be part of it!  There are many types of roles: a group Shepherd, a small class leader, drama team or art team--the list goes on!

Please visit us in the lobby to pick up the VBS Team packet, or email Jen.  It's gonna be a blast!

Facilities Team Recruitment

We are recruiting for the Facilities Team at all 3 campuses!  If you are able to help out 1-2 hours for one to four times per month, we would love for you to serve in keeping the facilities in Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, and Ventura looking clean.  Tasks range from cleaning & vacuuming surfaces in lobbies, classrooms and restrooms to detail-cleaning in the kitchens along with some laundry. For those that are strong and skilled there is painting, repairing, setting up, restowing, and window cleaning.

If interested, please fill out a volunteer form!

July Local Spotlight | International Students

"All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, And they shall glorify Your name. For You are great and do wondrous deeds; You alone are God." Psalm 86:9-10

Join us this month as we pray for International Students who have made their homes in Ventura and Santa Barbara County. God has called us to make disciples of all the nations, and they have come to us! Yet sadly, almost 95% of international students never enter an American home. We have the incredible opportunity to befriend, share the gospel with and disciple international students who have come to our communities from countries and cultures where the Gospel may have never been preached.

  • If you would like to get to know international students as they practice their English, please attend Conversation Cafe, every Tuesday at 821 State Street B (upstairs) from 4:30-7:00 PM.
  • Many of the international students who live in our communities are from Muslim nations. If you would like to pray for our Muslim neighbors during the month of Ramadan, here is a prayer guide that you may use.

How to Talk About the Gospel | Recordings Available Online

Tim Chaddick's mini-series titled "How to Talk About the Gospel" is now available for listening online.

Broken up into four classes, Tim goes through the book of Acts to teach us how to share the gospel with others today.  In Acts, we find that there is only one gospel, but a range of presentations. The ministry of the Apostles show us how they talk about the gospel to people from both religious and non-religious backgrounds, educated and non-educated, and in formal and informal environments. The words used to describe their presentations range from preaching and heralding to reasoning and persuading.  How do these help us rethink evangelism today? Join us as we study the variety of gospel conversations in Acts and discover their meaning for our everyday mission. Along with other New Testament teachings, these truths are practically instructive and powerfully encouraging for reaching people with the gospel.

Tim Chaddick is the founding pastor of Reality LA, a church community seeking the renewal of Los Angeles through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Feeling called to plant a church, Tim and his family moved to Hollywood in 2006 to begin this work, where he currently serves as Teaching Pastor. Reality LA is part of the Reality family of churches, a small movement committed to relational church planting and serving the broader body of Christ.

Radical Recovery | Ventura Campus

Radical Recovery is a new group starting this month dealing with addictions and radical change as we learn to walk with Jesus through life's battlefield. If you're looking for change and serious about recovery, come join us and be radical for Jesus every Tuesday night from 7-8pm at the Ventura campus. Radical Recovery will be led by Tino and Krissy Rico in the J-high room across the parking lot from our main building.

"For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived enslaved by various passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, detesting one another." Titus 3:3

Reality Ventura Kids Ministry Team | Summer Openings

As we enter Summer, we are looking to expand our Ventura Kids Ministry team. This is an exciting time to be part of Kids Ministry as we clearly see God bringing our kids deeper into their understanding of their identity in and relationship with Him! You do not need to be an expert with kids; you just need a heart to serve God by sharing His love with others. We would love to meet you!

There are several opportunities to serve over the summer:

  • Sunday School (every other week at either the 9am or 11:15am gathering)
  • MidWeek Summer gatherings (select Thursday evenings in June and July)
  • Vacation Bible School (August 4-8 in the evenings)
  • Fill in as a sub when a regular volunteer is absent

All new team members must fill out a volunteer form, meet with the Kids Ministry staff, and get fingerprinted via LiveScan. Come pick up a Kids Ministry packet in the lobby this Sunday or email Jen Waltz for more info.
