A Breath of Fresh Air
from Penhouse
We'd like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all our customers, both local and further afield, for supporting our small business. As we begin to wind down, we've taken a look back on our work from 2019 and gathered just some of our projects to display. Put your feet up, grab a coffee and enjoy a browse through our year in review.
Laois has an eclectic bunch of talented food & drink producers which has grown even larger in recent years. With the help of local authorities (Laois County Council and Laois Partnership), they formed a group and invited us to design their brand identity. Tasked with phrasing the narrative and creating the design, we looked at the broader county's offering coupled with this initiative to entice visitors and food enthusiasts. 'You're Welcome to TASTE' epitomises the tone of this gentle invitation. We are hoping that this messaging will expand so that in Laois you're welcome to shop, you're welcome to explore, you're welcome to dine, you're welcome to meet the makers and so on.... In Laois, you're always welcome. Messaging | Logo Design |

Corporate Branding for NMBI
This year saw us continuing our work which began last year with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) to create a more modern suite of branded communications. We have selected a fresher colour palette and a design system for publications, looking too at their internal communications and display material. It was also a special year for the Nursing Regulation in 2019, as they celebrated their centenary in October. Logo Refresh | Identity Guidelines | Publications | Campaign Branding | Display

Bringing New Life to Great Houses
During the month of October, Carlow Tourism invited guests to their great houses to celebrate music, drama, talks, food, gardens and heritage and we were delighted to provide the promotional material for their inaugural Big Houses Festival.
From corporate promotions to consumer branding, our work with Kells and The Little Mill this year has seen us develop literature, exhibition stands, livery and packaging for one of Ireland's favourite millers. Branding | Promotional Literature | Catalogue | Livery | Packaging
We've always liked creating customised maps for small businesses and tourism groups, personalising with illustration and branding appropriately. In 2019 we brought these skills to our home county, creating a food tourism map for Laois and also a town map for Portlaoise. We also styled a set of civic banners for the town, which can be seen lining the streets. We'll meet you there!
Craft Beers & Long Tables
Ballykilcavan Brewery was a busy place this year. From a Long Table Banquet and new bottled beers, to a range of brand new can designs and export material, it has been an exciting chapter in this griffin's evolution and the Ballykilcavan story. You can follow their activity here...
During the summer, we worked with Niamh and Eddie from Tully Nurseries to launch their Bella Bloom world exclusive Irish plant - Hebe Mint Chocolate. Arboretum Garden Centres in Carlow and Wicklow were the first to showcase the plant and we branded the spaces with pot wraps, stands, display areas and decorated Tuk Tuks!
When you are winning the Gold at Blas na hÉireann 2019 for the best-tasting Christmas cake in Ireland (among others), you need to look the part too. We were delighted to be invited by Niamh to create a logo design and brand her range of fine tasting cakes from Aghaboe Farm Foods. Follow their activity and see their treats on Facebook
Annual Reports, Strategies & More
Every year we design a number of annual reports, frameworks, strategies and other corporate publications for government departments, local authorities and more.
Protecting the future of our Swifts has become a mission for Bird Watch Ireland. We were privileged to produce a publication for them, together with The Heritage Council, with the aim of assisting in the Swifts' conservation. The publication shares information about the bird's lifestyle and nesting patterns and invites sightings and nest records to inform the research, so that we can all play a role in helping the Swift to survive.
From handbooks and brand identities to communications and advocacy campaigns, we're proud of the work we do with a variety of organisations in the health sector, as they work to bring about change. Clients included National Advocacy Service, Alcohol Action Ireland and the HSE among others.
Woodlands Pet Bedding is an Irish company producing and selling barley straw, meadow hay and wood flakes for pet bedding. Next time you go looking for them, you'll see a difference. We've updated their overall look with a refreshed identity and newly designed packaging.
We've always had a special interest in designing for those in the youth sector. This year is no different. Participation and involvement is often key and in many cases we workshop with the young people involved, taking their thoughts and ideas, and converting them into workable designs, representing their style. Some of this year's work saw us design for Hub na nÓg, Department of Justice, Creative Ireland, Youth Work Ireland and Tusla.
As 2019 comes to a close...

We'd like to wish our friends and customers a peaceful and happy Christmas and our very best wishes for the new year ahead.
