Limestone Coast Red Meat Cluster on the road....

Word is spreading!

The LCRMC is being used as a cluster case study at a workshop in NSW next week to spark ideas on how to grow innovation, profitability, industry linkages, enhanced skills and a culture of collaboration in the Central West region of NSW.

Hosted by the Weddin Shire and Murray Darling Energise Enterprise Program, farmers, people employed in agriculture and those with an interest in the region’s economy will hear from LCRMC Chair Peter Stock and Project Coordinator Ann Aldersey about the red meat cluster, how it came to be and its project activities.

Keep an eye on the Central West for future clustering activities....!

How can the SA beef industry grow and develop?

Have your say at a workshop to examine where the SA beef industry should put its energy and investments, how we can better collaborate throughout the industry and how we can build our skills to make this happen.

When: Tuesday 23 May, 9am - 12.30pm (lunch provided)

Where: Naracoorte Town Hall, 95 Smith St

For more information and to RSVP, see below or head to http://www.livestocksa.org.au/events/sa-beef-cattle-industry-blueprint-scoping-workshop/

ProNet - Autumn Business Update with ProAdvice

When: Friday 26 May, 3 - 5pm, concluding with drinks and nibbles

Where: Naracoorte Hotel, 73 Ormerod St

All topics are likely to be front and centre for red meat producers:

Ag commodity prices - influencing factors for the future

Tax planning tips - how to best use profits? Reviewing options: FMDs, investments into superannuation, off farm investment

Business innovations and challenges - joint ventures (do they really work?), land prices (time to buy or sell?), software update (important tool or distraction?)

Good Clover, Bad Clover - what is your clover doing to lamb marking rates?

The Mackillop Farm Management Group, in collaboration with AgKI, has been successful in securing a project with MLA to look at the issue of clover disease in sheep, caused by oestrogenic clovers being present in pastures.

The groups are keen to get some basic information on what is happening on-farm and get an indication of producer knowledge about the issue.

Your support by filling in a quick survey would be most appreciated.
