Campaign supporters out in droves

On Sunday, over 1,000 campaign supporters turned up to Luna Park to participate in a family fun day defending leisure time and work/life balance.

NSW Opposition Leader John Robertson also arrived and pledged that, if the Retail Trading Amendment is passed by the NSW Parliament, the ALP will repeal those changes when returned to Government.

This reassuring announcement, pictured above, was greeted with great enthusiasm by those gathered on Luna Park's Lavender Green.

Of course our preference is for the law not to be passed at all! The next campaign event is the debate of our petition in Parliament, expected to take place on 18 October.

We are very close to being the largest petition presented to the NSW Parliament - please get those hard copy petitions in! You can download a PDF here and return to the SDA NSW Office at PO Box K230, Haymarket NSW 1240.

Weekend / Overtime Penalty Rates under Attack

As if this wasn't enough, Independent Senator Nick Xenephon has meanwhile presented a bill in Federal Parliament that would let employers dramatically reduce penalty rates for working unsociable hours.

The ACTU (supporters of the Take The Time campaign) have started an email petition on this issue. Please take a few moments to head over to their site and add your name.
