JULY 2021 NEWSLETTER

WELCOME ABOARD - CHAMPIONSHIP POA NEWS

Your Championship Property Owners Association is committed to keeping the residents of Eagleton informed about new and changing issues within our community - and as such are creating this new, online, newsletter. Read on to learn more...

WHAT IS THE CHAMPIONSHIP POA ?

One of the questions that new homeowners frequently ask is "Just what is the Championship Property Owners Association? So, as we start our new Championship Newsletter, we thought that would be a fitting first article.

Backing up a bit, everyone hopefully knows that their home is part of one of the six Homeowners Associations (HOA) - Eagleton Lakes, Eagleton Estates, Eagleton Cove, Monterey Pointe, Grand Cay, or Eagleton Pointe. Eagleton Pointe is the HOA for the Masters, Diamond Head, Augusta Pointe, Pinehurst, and General Pointe communities.

The Championship Property Owners Association (POA) is then the overlay organization that has responsibility for those areas within Eagleton that are NOT within a specific Homeowner's Association.

To narrow that down a bit more, the Championship Property Owners Association has responsibility for the two main roads within Eagleton (Championship Drive and General Drive), the main gatehouse on Championship Drive and the rear gates on General Drive, and all the landscaping and trees on both of those roads. The Championship POA also has responsibility for negotiating contracts for 24/7 security guards at the gatehouse, with a cable service provider for all the communities and for hurricane and storm cleanup in the non-HOA areas of Eagleton. The cost of those services is passed on to the individual HOA's who in turn assess the individual homeowners.

So the organizational structure is like this:

You and your Home
   • Your Homeowners Association
    • Championship Property Owners Association
      • PGA National Property Owners Association.

If you'd like additional information on any of this, please contact your own Homeowners Association President (listed below).

TRAFFIC SAFETY IN EAGLETON

Your Championship Board is always concerned with traffic safety within the community.

Bike As a result of the pandemic, we have seen more and more people out walking and biking within Eagleton. And while we understand the desire for social distancing, walking in the roadway, and biking all over the roads in both directions can be quite hazardous ..... and dangerous for both the walker/biker and for the operator of motor vehicles.

A preliminary report from the Highway Safety Administration showed a 4.8% increase in reported pedestrian and pedal cyclist fatalities over the previous year. It went on to say that this is the largest ever annual increase in the pedestrian/pedal cyclist deaths since 1975.

Please walk on the sidewalks, ride your bike on the roadway safely, and be ever vigilant of cars and trucks on the roadways.   Thank you!

DUAL COMCAST PEDESTALS

As we are sure most homeowners have noticed, with the Comcast switchover from copper wire to fiber optics, there are now two Comcast pedestals in the front yard of our homes. One pedestal is for the old copper wire connections to your home and the other is for the fiber optics.

Comcast Logo Your Board, along with most all homeowners is anxious to get rid of the old style pedestals and get down to just one - the fiber optics pedestal. Unfortunately, Comcast will only remove the copper wire pedestals once 95% of the homes have switched over to fiber optics. The switchover is free and only takes about an hour to do... but Comcast must have access to your home in order to do so.

If you have not made the switchover, please do so ASAP so that we can get rid of the ugly old pedestals. If you are not currently in PGA National, please consider having your house-watch person or company work with Comcast to get this done immediately. Your neighbors will be very appreciative. To arrange the work necessary, please call Comcast at (800) 934-6489.
