April 13, 2020: Southeast US Tornadoes

Hope Force International Reservists,

Hope Force International (HFI) is reaching out to our contacts in or near communities that were impacted by yesterday’s deadly tornado outbreak.  Like you, our hearts and prayers go out to those who lost loved ones, suffered injury and/or property damage.  Many remain without power and people in shelters are endeavoring to exercise caution and social distancing, which surely must be challenging.

As we seek to determine if and where we might respond, HFI is absolutely committed to the health and well being of staff and Reservists — as well as survivors — as it pertains to the Corona virus.  With this in mind, and should we respond, precautions such as the wearing of masks, and limiting physical contact with others, will be exercised while endeavoring to meet the needs of survivors.

We realize that these are unique times and circumstances.  Anyone desiring to respond must assess their own health, and only do so after prayerful consideration and consultation with family and friends.  Should you decide this deployment is not for you, be confident that God is more than able to provide all the people needed to accomplish His purposes in and through HFI.

We felt it important to reach out to you in advance of deployment directives to provide adequate time for prayerful consideration.  You are very important to us and we want to honor your desire to serve, while acknowledging our need for God’s wisdom and direction together.

Current Status

Southeast US Tornadoes

What we know:

  • We are begining the process of conducting assessments
  • It may take a day or so to determine our exact location of service

What we don't know:

  • Specifics on location and timing of deployment

What you need to know:

  • If deployed, prepare for lots of change and uncertainty – with plans “unfolding” as things develop
  • If you can't deploy immediately, you could still have an opportunity to serve in a later phase
  • We will keep you updated as we know more

What you need to do now:

We are asking for all Hope Force Reservists to be on standby alert for a possible deployment. Again, this means check your calendars, and prayerfully assess to see if this is a good time for you to respond. If you are available – or even think you might be – please EMAIL CONNIE with the following:

  • Name
  • Email
  • Cell phone number
  • Dates of availability (as best you know)

Also:

  • Conduct a self assessment:  would this be a good time for you to deploy (physically, emotionally, job, family, etc.)?
  • Pray about your involvement
  • Prepare your deployment gear and supplies
  • Communicate with family, friends and employer about possible deployment
  • If you cannot go at this time, please pray and also consider giving to the response

This could be a great opportunity for those of you who haven't been able to deploy for a while. Your willingness to serve others with compassionate action is greatly appreciated...and we need you!

We’d also appreciate your prayers as we continue to assess the changing situation, seeking God’s clear guidance in the process.

Thank you!
